just drag them all in at once. if you're using windows, (idk about mac) you just select all at once and drag them straight into the costumes tab. that way you dont have to make a new costume and import a picture every time... hope I helped
There is also Google sketch up, which can save as jpeg, but which in an older version of scratch did not load and looked a lot blockier than the Blender ones. lol.
In step 3 you said 'download and open this program on scratch'. First how do you download it and to where, and how do you open it on scratch?
Please help!
For step 3 I mean, download this project with the link at top right, like any other project. You shoudln't have to save it anywhere at this point. When you have it open in scratch, delete the old sprite, (right-click it and choose delete on it's icon in the bottom right..)then open the folder that has all the jpeg files in windows, select all the files then drag them to scratch. hope it works for you!
I just started using Blender a week ago, and made my first animation today. I want to put it in scratch, but the file won't show up in Scratch! How do you get your Blender files in Scratch!?!?
Hi. Cool! It can be tricky. Did you try making a spinner project? I think that will help you. The template makes it ready for scratch, The render settings in a new blender has to be set right for scratch, (link to forums) I explain how I set up the file in there. The important part is the size set to 480x360 and file saves as jpeg. Also trying more than around 100 frames imports very slowly or not at all in scratch.
AddZero I have a special request. Would you make a liquid simulation of green goo that looks like it is oozing over the computer monitor and slowly fills the whole screen?
Hmmm... I haven't been able to make good oozing fluid (low viscosity) sliding over surfaces. also it would be very slow and take more frames then scratch can handle nicely. (~+150) So I'm making it shoot from top forward, splash and fill the screen.
first of all, I love blender, but suck at it, like REALLY bad. second of all, Blender used to work on my computer, but ever since I got a BETTER graphics card, it stopped working. same for RUNESCAPE-high detail, Google earth, and sketch up(but I fixed sketch up). DO you know why this is? And if so, how do I fix it. Everything 3d that used to work, stopped working when I got a BETTER graphics card. I am so sick of it. But stuff like shockwave and CD 3d games, but lots of stuff does not work.
It depends on the video card. The problem is likely that the video card it's not setup right. Did you install the drivers that came with the new video card? You may need to downloaded the latest drivers for that card from the manufacturer. reply with the model name and if you're using windows xp or vista, and I might be able to help. or search on google.
Depends. Quite a few have done it. See the spin me gallery. If you follow the steps you can do it. Ask for a parent or teacher's help, or ask questions in the forum. links at right.
Sweet. Will you see my games?- I just made a new game called "block party," my other ones are "Skating Game," "Ping Pong Game," and "Midnight Air Raid 2"
i would download blender, but it needs some other program to run.
that program would mess up imovie. (my brother would KILL me) LOL
so i cant get it! but i have a secret way to get 3D stuff on scratch.
i will post how soon
Blender does not need another program to run. I never heard of it messing up iMovie. This is the official download site: http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/
hey i would like to see one of your blender projects i dont know like you already know how to add armature?(i know but takes me time....)and do you know you can make games?(i tried some things in the tutorials...)
Ok, you downloaded the .blend file from the link at right? and you tried to open that file in blender. It could be that the file is being corrupted by your web browser. I don't know, try again? try another browser?
Well, that's a big question. I wrote this tutorial how to make your own spinner, Are you able to download that blend file? Open it in Blender, I have more instructions in there. Also search for 'blender video tutorials'. Blender is a complicated program, you may find 'google sketchup' easier for learning 3d.
It would be easier to start with a new file. I used some high level blender concepts to piece together the blurred version so it can render in one step. Make a new scene, go to the render window and change the image size to x:480 y:360 (Scratch's size.) If you want to know how the file is setup, I wrote allot more in the in the forum:
(link to forums)
I'm pretty good with blender and I have a cool "3D" scratch project with less costumes than yours, but apparently its too big to upload to the scratch site. Any tips?
Make sure it saves as a jpeg files, and that it renders at 480x360 For doing spinning things, I found that 64 frames works well. I set a key frame at one, then another at frame 65, and set that one to rotate the z axis 360 degrees or 36 in the curve editor. and press "v" curve on the curve to make it a strait line. Sorry, it's kind of complicated, check out: http://www.totallyblended.com/Tutorials.html
i have a question for you. i cant download blender, so i was wondering if you could make one for me. i would really appreciate it if you could do this with my DG games symbol. i have a project that shows the symbol piece by piece. can you do that?
At what part did you get stuck? Did blender make the animation, did you find the files in windows explorer? did you select them and drag them to this project in scratch after you deleted the sprite?
Do you mean the blend file from: http://addzero.org/scratch/spin-me-template-for-scratch.blend ? The scratch file wont open in blender. save it to somewhere you can find, then double click it, it should start in blender. if not, you have do file open in blender then find the file.
I'm done! I shared my Remix! I also deleted the background called "Do Not Delete" (when I used arrow keys, it kept flashing white) but I changed all the addition numbers by -1. you could have just made all of the numbers you added one less and then make ONE extra step to delete the first background. although it could make it longer by a kind of large amount, because it would take a while for it to load all of the costumes.
Okay, I have mostly figured out how to edit the image. I would like to make the two words different colors though, but when I change one object's color, it changes both of the objects' colors.
Ok, to do that you need to make a new material. Right now, that material is shared between 2 objects. See the number 2 next to the object name in the material editor? Click that, it will make it a "single user" or a separate copy. Then you can rename it and change it.
This project will let you make your own 3D Spinning Text remix.
(Please take a look at my "Spin Me!" project, if you haven't. (link to project)
I tried to make this as simple as possible. The goal is for this to work as an introduction to 3d graphics.
STEP 1: Download and install Blender, the free 3d program from http://blender.org
STEP 2: Download and open this blender Template file: http://addzero.org/scratch/spin-me-template-for-scratch.blend (Right-click Save As)
There's instructions inside on how to change the text and color and render the animation.
STEP 3: Download and open this project in Scratch. Delete this sprite. Use your file browser to find and select the jpeg files Blender made, then drag those files into the Scratch window. Save, Share, THAT'S IT!
STEP 4: Please let me know how this worked for you. Ok, now you're done. :-)
Please let me know if you get stuck, I want to help. Ask questions here: (link to forums)

nice, i still dont get it...
It sayz need python. Isn't that like a answer question program?
its another programming language. don't worry, it's free.
Well my Google SketchUp idea is killed here.
(view all replies)And I'm awesome at Google Sketchup? I don't know what the @#$% Ruby Scripting is!
(view all replies)i dont know ruby scripting
(view all replies)i just tried blender..it's a lot trickier, AND you can create perfect 3-D angles and smoothed surfaces in sketch up
(view all replies)sketchup beats blender >:S
(view all replies)can you NL
WTF is "NL"?
NL?
(view all replies)Lol, when I dragged the sprites in, they imported backwards, so when I spun it, it spun really slow, then got increasingly faster!
is there an easier way 2 import the pics into scratch without doing them 1 by 1?
just drag them all in at once. if you're using windows, (idk about mac) you just select all at once and drag them straight into the costumes tab. that way you dont have to make a new costume and import a picture every time... hope I helped
(view all replies)YAY! cds56 wuz here in glossy lime green! much better than google sketchup.
In other words, it was easy, and fun.
There is also Google sketch up, which can save as jpeg, but which in an older version of scratch did not load and looked a lot blockier than the Blender ones. lol.
Slight problem for me, you have a windows (*cough*windows stinks*couch*) and so I can't download the template. I have a mac.
couch?
i don't think it matters what OS you have to download the template, just click on the link in step two in the notes
cool now I needn't to draw every picture
I dont get Blender

hey add zero, do you need to pay for blender?
Nope, blender is free from blender.org
(view all replies)AddZero I have a special request. Would you make a liquid simulation of green goo that looks like it is oozing over the computer monitor and slowly fills the whole screen?

this is very creative :)

sorry but i dont want to waist my energy on that
No problem. it's a waste for some, some find it interesting. I love 3d stuff. If you do want to learn and you get stuck, let me know so I could help.
Is it easy 2 do?
Depends. Quite a few have done it. See the spin me gallery. If you follow the steps you can do it. Ask for a parent or teacher's help, or ask questions in the forum. links at right.
(view all replies)thats my latest statement that I made
5(raised by the power of N)=10*X+5
you seem very into math so you might want to look at my project homework helper. i don't know how to do links to projects yet. :)
really really cool can you help me with my project! It has a lot of glitches! (link to project)
you type in the adress to send a link
I'm Sorry, but it wouldn't let me download it on Scratch, it said: Bad Header???
Sweet. Will you see my games?- I just made a new game called "block party," my other ones are "Skating Game," "Ping Pong Game," and "Midnight Air Raid 2"

(view all replies)canyou look at my projects of Crowpto i need some one to make star ships.
Cool! Can you look at my latest project Pokemon Inferno and comment it?
Please let me know if you get stuck, I want to help. Ask questions here: (link to forums)
hello, i just wanted to let you know that IT would be for a project. so if you are going to create it, i dont want it taking up alot of space.
i can't open it, it says "bad header"
if you mean in scratch, get 1.3
Ok, you downloaded the .blend file from the link at right? and you tried to open that file in blender. It could be that the file is being corrupted by your web browser. I don't know, try again? try another browser?
(view all replies)cool hey check my magic garden demo
How do you use blender? I have it but it's confusing
Sorry it doesn't make sense, if you tell me what part you're stuck on, I might be able to help.

(view all replies)i can't get it on scratch eather wont work
(view all replies)ya... true
also you should make a version and add the wave modifier tho one of the text =D
Yeah that would be cool. but it would be difficult to also make the motion blur to also work how I have the file setup.
I will upload a version that I made super shiny! lol...
ha, nice!
help
when i save it i can't open it in blender
Do you mean the blend file from: http://addzero.org/scratch/spin-me-template-for-scratch.blend ? The scratch file wont open in blender. save it to somewhere you can find, then double click it, it should start in blender. if not, you have do file open in blender then find the file.
(view all replies)Very cool! If I was any good at all at modeling in blender I would definitely try this! (I might try it anyway)
Blender is sort of easy when you get used to it!
Thanks! You don't have to do any modeling with this, --just changing text and colors, It has instructions to walk through the steps.
(view all replies)I'm done! I shared my Remix!
