This is not a game. It's a simple graphics test. I don't have sprites mapped to it like my 'random 3d sculpture', yet.
(I added velocity per fullmoon's sugestion. Thanks! I havn't found the perfect settings, or something isn't quite right. The grid animation is very limited.)
I'm testing out the possibility of an open area setup for my tank game... or for a racing game... (I'm also creating one that can rotate as well but that's 288 images, and the time it takes to import an image increases exponentially for each image. It might take a day or so to finish.)

im not quite shure if i understand the logic of this. whats wrong with the way im doing 3-d games?
What do you mean? Do you mean the logic of this project? The grid repeats itself, so it gives the illusion that you can go far way. If I draw something on the grid images, it will also repeat itself, and the illusion stops working. If you can match a sprite to display on a certain point and use 3d projection, that would work. But that's very difficult, and should be figured out at the time the grid images are made. I did that for another project: (link to project)">(koppeling naar project)

I know that. I don't get your point. It is still 3d. and the checker board is 3D. He did use a sprite. Tell me what the sprite is.

Cool, but it's a little bit shaky when you go diagonally. You might want to fix that.

Well, it's not just scratch blocks. It's specially made backgrounds. The blocks just choose which costume to use.

If only this supported a Mode 7 style of 3-D movement, like used in the game "F-Zero".
Yeah, that would be cool! I wanted to make a game like 16bit mario kart. If I could import 288 costumes, I'd have at least a checkerboard rotating and moving.

otherwise its pretty good, and the velocity makes it more realistic.
i think the decay rate is a bit glitchy, if you set it too high it is too fast, and if you set it too low, it appears to rocket back and forth. Since the numbers you are dealing with for the rate of decay are in the decimals, button control is better.
I think I prefer the velocity.

Do you have favorite settings for the velocity/decay? If you find a better setting, I'll make it as the default. (I think I like .3, .8 better.)
I added velocity. I still have the old simple blocks there if anyone needs them.
I LOVE BLENDER but i cant figure out how to get the work i have saved in it to have vertices, could u tell me what to do?

Thanks! Draco10, I made a "How I made it" on the side. m44: I did make it rotate, but it takes more images, scratch doesn't like that many. I have to simplify it somehow.

wow! you should make this into a game. it would also be cool if the camera could zoom in and out, and make a 360 degree turn. but still sweet.

Sure you can remix it. It's not possible to put a sprite in 3d space in it yet, though. That's on the to do list.
