This project is a step by step guide on how to scroll. I have made as easy to follow as possible and I think that you will find this suprisingly simple. This is the most basic form of scrolling however it is very useful to make projects with. PRESS SPACE TO MOVE ONTO THE NEXT INSTRUCTION.

but i need the mario ? block solid top and only activate in down of the block, my ?block isn't sol.id and you activate on the top, and all sides. it's serious

How use the scrolly? (No Scrollx)
Scrolly uses the same scrolling method as scrollx. Just change x to y.
Okay you have managed to get me scrolling but i find that the scroll goes the wrong way and that my character does not follow the terrain any ideas

I just tried it again, and it worked. I had to add some other things, and take out the scripts that say if scrollx<-915 and if scrollx>-10. But, thanks anyway! (:D

Ok. I downloaded it and looked at the scripts. You had made the scripts in the stage area wrong. Download my scrolling template ((link to project) and make sure the scripts are the same. You need to change all of the scripts in the 'Stage' area.

This just teaches the basic side-scrolling. Please seek help from elsewhere If you want to learn how to make multi-directional scrolling.

No, it is 460. When I tried it with 480 and the terrain sprites didn't hide and so they over-lapped. Good luck anyway :D

Check all of the scripts are right. Make sure that you haven't accidentally made a script hiding the terrain. If it still doesn't work upload it and I will download it and tell you what's wrong.

how do you get that to pop up(in # 2)?
Go onto variables, then at the top there should be 'make a variable', click on that.

All it takes is a bit of initiative. It is the bottom block on the number section, change the sqrt of 10 to abs of x position. And please, don't say it sucks, because it doesn't, if anything sucks its you for not being able to find the script.

Make sure you have made all of the scripts right. I am almost 100% sure that my guide is not at fault, judging by the amount of love-its. Keep on trying but if it still doesn't work, upload the project and I will download it and sort out the problem.

I am making a mario game and this (how to scroll) doesnt work, because I want the "terrain" to move WITH the sprites(charicters) can you make a project telling people how to do that? NO!? PLEAAAAAAAAAASE?????? PS PLEASE?????????????
Sorrry, but I am a little busy right now, so I will just explain it in this comment. If you want the character sprites to move along with the scenery then there are 2 ways of doing this. The easiest way would be to draw the characters onto the terrain sprites, they can be touching the ground or up in the air (anywhere will do) HOWEVER, if you want the the sprite you control, or anything else to be able to sense or interact with the characters, then you need to copy the script [CONTINUES BELOW]
