Please take a look at http://www.redware.com/scratch/ for some notes on how to program in scratch. Parents and teachers can use these notes to structure activities to teach children scratch (starting from age 6).
These are my first attempts at using scratch so are not completely finished projects.
I am looking at using scratch in a computer club for 5-7 years olds here in England. The general idea is to get children familiar with turtle graphics without having to learn to program (yet).
They need to understand very basic geometry (distance and angles) and put together sequences of movements and turns to draw shapes or navigate around the stage.
I have been researching Logo so most of these examples are drawn from the Logo literatures (particularly Abelson and Watt).
Please post your ideas or projects suitable for 3-6 years olds in this gallery and provide any feedback and ideas for using scratch for this age group.
Thanks.

I made this project to help me introduce Scratch to a potential young programmer. (link to project)">(link to project) .
Nice one digimath. I have started explaining everything in videos now although I am not sure quite what age group will respond to them positively.
