ashby1- how do you feel the critique group is going? Would you mind sharing some of your experiences with others in your forum: (link to forums)
Others have had some difficulty starting up their critiques and it seems you have had some success with yours. I am sure they would be interested to hear about the things you thought about and considered when creating this group :)
Here is a link to my critique for Ivaash's Needler the porquipine project: (link to project)
ashby1 - Have you considered asking others to post links to their reviews on this page - it might help you better keep track of who is reviewing which projects :)
i would love to join, but the problem is i can't comment on my computer, i doesn't work, so i wouldn't be able toi give critiques very often. what do you think?
Yes, you can join. You can post a project anytime. Then as soon as you can, critique at least two other projects from the gallery. I can't wait to see what you have to share.
The gallery is currently open to anyone interested in animation who is willing to give critiques. When you critique a project leave a message as a response to this comment. I'll clear projects from people who haven't posted a critique in a few days.
NEW CHALLENGE: Animate two scenes from a fairy-tale or folktale. Include at least 2 different settings and 3 types of shot (wide angle, close up, extreme close up, over the shoulder, pov, etc.). Google "movie grammar" for more info.
CRITIQUES: Rate at least 2 other projects in terms of 1)Narrative Flow-is it easy to follow or is it confusing? 2)Graphics- how good does it look? 3)Creativity- does it surprise you or do something unexpected that improves the story?
Read other critiques and agree or disagree with them.
I suggest that we all read this web page so that we can have some common ideas and language for giving feedback.

Another way to critique a project could be to remix it. By editing it, you can SHOW your suggestions which might be more helpful than trying to explain them in text. If you remix as a critique, be sure to comment on what you changed and why.
OKz, i forgot, do you just add your favorite animated short, or ones that will inspire people! i still don't know what to do! (in school, i'm samrt, but in the summer . . . I CAN'T EVEN SPELL SMART RIGHT!!!!!!!!)
No worries.
I'm trying create some structure to get things started, but the bottom line is do what you think will help the group be more interesting and supportive.
start by critiquing Bloobaaed656's project: (link to project) There are many things to comment on in this scene. Here are a few that come to mind: facial expressions, body language, changes in "camera" angle, dialog, programming, special effects. I'm sure there are others. Remember, always be kind and helpful.
OK folks, the Critter's Cafe has a great group of artists on board. Now it's time to start the critiques. Start with (link to project). If you don't want to participate, pleas let me know so I can let someone else have your spot.
mletreat had a great suggestion for getting things started in this group. Let's all start by critiquing Bloobaaed656's project: (link to project)

Suggestions Critiquing
1. Describe or summarize the project.
2. Start with a positive observation. "I liked. . ."
3. Answer any questions the author may have asked.
4. Suggest alternate choices the author could try.
5. Encourage the author to keep working.
It might also be a good idea to ask members to comment on a single project at a time, this will help keep your crit gallery structured and also give everyone a chance to get feedback...after a day or two, you could move on to the next project. All you would need to do is announce which project is the one to focus on (by creation or submission date seems fair). Limiting to 2 per person seems like a good idea too :)
isanmooey,
Thanks for sharing your projects.
Can you animate two characters doing the knock-knock joke? Could you think of how to twist the joke by adding audio or video?
The group is currently open to any interested members. If we end up with more than seven I'll split the group so that everyone has a chance to get feedback.
To introduce yourself, post an animation of your favorite knock-knock joke.
The Critters Cafe is the original critique group for Scratchers who want to focus on animation and story telling. You might enjoy this group if you enjoy drawing, theatre, or creative writing. To introduce yourself, animate your favorite knock-knock joke and post it here.
This group is open to absolute beginners as well as advanced Scratchers with a knack for tutoring.
In order to focus on quality over quantity, you may only request feedback on two projects per week. Members are expected to make meaningful comments on all projects posted. To keep this manageable, the group will initially be limited to 5 members.

Hey- do you know which of these projects people want to receive critiques on? Should we critique the knock-knock joke projects?

For starters, maybe just respond to anything that that catches your eye. We need to make sure that everyone in the group gets at least two critiques.
