''yay!'' darkriver smiled. ''great! come on lets go!''
"uh... okay. a little random but i feel the same way about you." oaksong said with a smile
darkriver smiled. "oaksong...i...er...i love you!" she said.
''yeah!'' darkriver said.
''C'mon we'd better get to the base.'' the arrived there and sat in a cave in the base. Just then a lightning bolt hit the forest. ''Good thing we got outta there!'' oaksong said in awe.
''yeah, sure''oaksong said. They walked through the trees. When they saw the light at the end of the forest they were filled with joy. ''Yes!'' oaksong siad ''the truth is, i was afriad to go throgh there!'' he said smiling. Just then they heard thunder.
''uh....climb through the trees.....'' she suggested.
''Yeah, sure!'' oaksong answered relieved. Just then they saw a group of twolegs and their dogs walking laps around the small forest. ''uh, i think they're a class, training their dogs......but we don't know how trained they are....are you sure want to go around?'' he asked. He was cought in a pickle, get clawed up by dogs or get lost in a forest......he couldn't choose, that's why he was putting their fate into darkriver's paws.
''hm....i'd say lets go around. i'd rather avoid running into cats...and we can hunt on the edge of the forest.'' darkriver answered. ''is that alright?''

''Huh? Oh, right....let's go!'' they ran off. By sunhigh they reached a dark forest. ''Should we go around the forest and reach the base mountains by sunset tomorrow or go throught it and reach the base by this time tomorrow?'' he asked. He was rather worried about her answer, he had a bad feeling about going through the forest.
''oaksong...wake up! we have to go!'' mewwed darkriver in the morning.
''his fur looks like an oak tree!'' exclaimed the twoleg kit. oaksong purred a tune. ''and he's singing! you'll be oaksong!'' he said. The were put into the belly of a monster and then spit out into a twoleg nest. It was very strange but the two cats grew more acostume to the life of a kittypet each day. Their favorite spot was byy the window, eventually the twolegs couldn't stand the cats sad faces and let them out each day. One day the twoleg kit forgot to bring them in for dinner and they were out unil dusk. ''C'mon, this is our chance!'' oaksong said but he didn't want to hurt the kit's feelings. ''We've got to go anyway. and they took off reaching the same den by moring. ''We've got to rest but not in that den let's sleep in that tree hollow and so they did.
the twoleg grabbed oaksong and clutched him next to darkriver. ''i'll free you...'' it whispered.
''oaksong!'' cried darkriver. a twoleg had picked her up and was about to hand her to a twoleg kit. ''wow!'' exclaimed the twoleg kit, gentally stroking darkriver. ''she looks nice! i'll take her!'' it exclaimed. darkriver purred at the gentall relaxing strokes of the twolegkit. ''i'm gonna name her...hm...she's black as night....and another idea could be black...but dark...it doesn't seem complete....river! darkriver!'' exclaimed the twoleg. it pointed to oaksong. ''and that one! i'll take that one!''
''uh............'' oaksong started, but before he could finish the twoleg reached in and grabbed the two of them. The were put in a cage and taken to a twoleg nest where they put them in a bigger cage surrounded by other caged cats (animal shelter). They tagged the cage with two signs that said: Joey + Melly,two strays, please take home. WHO ARE JOEY AND MELLY??? oaksong thought. they were given putrid food and clear water.WHERE AM I!?!?!?!?!!?!?
''oaksong...i'm scared!'' whispered darkriver. ''what will we do!''
''C'mon, we've got to find a place to rest.'' he said. He looked around and spotted a nice den in the side of a grassy hill. ''let's check over here.'' he said. they approached the den, oaksong sniffed inside ''abandoned'' he siad and walked into the den ''smells like fox, but the scent is stale.'' he added laying down. The two fell asleep next to each other. Oaksong was awoken by a blinding light. A twoleg was holding a miniture sun (flashlight)and was looking inside the den. The twosome scooted back their fur bristling. ''this is a fox den,fox's always make an emergency exit!'' he said to darkriver. He searched around for one. The he backed into somethin soft that wasn't darkriver. The light shone onto it. It was a dead fox. Apparently this wasn't made to be a fox den,the fox had died becuase he could escape. Would their fate be the same!?!?!?!!?!??
''sorry....'' darkriver said, eyeing the ground pitifully. she looked up and raced ahead, past the first twoleg nest, then the next easily. she waited for oaksong, then, raced to the next couple of nests. when she was past the last nest, it was dusk.
"that was close!next time don't stop in the middle of the thunderpath!" he said. Darkriver looked hurt so he nugded her playfully. "C'mon,let's try to get past these twoleg nests before night fall." and he picked up his pace a little.
''wait!'' cried darkriver, sprinting after him, then, she heard a monster, and froze with fear. she stopped in the middle of the tunderpath, and saw the monster approaching, at a deadly speed. she tryed to run, but was frozen. ''oaksong!'' she cried, tyring to run. as the monster was about to run her over, she sprang out of the way. as the monster roared away, she quivered with fear, and then, crawled after oaksong, into the forest.
''It would be easier on them if we don't tell them, they might think that we have died on our hunting mission if we did tell them so i'm leaving now...no matter what your choice is.'' he said and sprinted across the thunderpath.
darkriver's eyes shone. ''but....what about our leader.....our CLAN! and.....my kin.....our friends......'' she said. ''oaksong......maybe......i'll tell the leader we're going hunting, and won't be back for a while.'' she said. ''then, we'll leave. and we could leave in broad daylight! is that alright?'' she asked.
They ran to the edge of the thunderpath.Diarkriver qwivered next to him nervously but oaksong could barely smell her fear scent over the foul smell of the thunderpath."Look just past the twoleg place," he told her. "you see the mountains...i want to travel there someday." he said smiling. His face suddenly turned serious "but i can't go alone..."he said turning to her "are you up for an adveture?"
darkriver caught a ton of fresh kill, and teased oaksong at his small vole. ''i'm sure you'll get more!'' she said encouragingly. purring, she sped home, dropped off her kills, and preparded to just run around with oaksong.
The next morning they went hunting together.
she smiled at him. purring, she curled up in the warrior den to sleep.
"No,no...i am. i shouldn't have acted so strange i'm just a bit sesative with that subject." mewed oaksong. they shared a rabbit as they're apology.
''i'm sorry....really....i am.'' darkriver said. she turned to him, and the tears were in her eyes, flowing speedily down her cheeks.
oaksong's fur bristled....his family had been his life before they died of sickness. he had been the oldest and always caring for his mother and siblings... as dedicated as songthroat was. "your lucky you beven have a family!" he said and walked away offended. later he felt bad he had snapped at her. "i'm sorry." he said
''but YOU don't have your parents teasing you!'' she mewwed.
"i don't think it's embarrassing." oaksong said while eating a rabbit.
soon, darkriver learned to ignore the cats who'd tease her. she learned to cope with it. ''i jsut wnat to be with you. i shouldn't be embarraced to be with the cat i want to be with!'' she'd say.
darkriver shrunk back, to embarased to listen to the clan's remarks. she blushed every time songthroat mentioned oaksong. ''he's got spirit. just right for you!'' he'd say. darkriver blushed feircer when he said that.
