It was one of the control blocks.

And "Scratch was realeased in summer of 2007"? I registered in spring of 2007.

Grrr! Wikipedia! I looked it up, and it said that. Sorry.

I think this is great - but this is too much about the website. What about Scratch Day, and the Scratch Meetup at MIT? I went to both, and if you want I'll write two quick chapters about them. Also you should fix your post, because in 1.2 the comment block was in the Controls section, its not unknown.

When I said unknown, I meant that I didn't know which. But I'll update it.

And for the Scratch Day stuff, could you please give me some facts? That way the book is written completely in the same style.  wink

For the Projects, You could do a little bit of the history of which ones were top loved of all time, some of the groundbreaking techniques founded, such as scrolling, Trends in what has made it to the front such as animations mostly or games mostly. You could also do some influentail users, like Newareeagle, and Archmage.

Who's Newareeagle? I searched him up and I got no results for users...

OK:

-There were 3 main time slots, and when you registered you chose what you wanted to go to for each one. There were ones such as Show and Tell to show your projects, also ones where you specifically used Picoboards and Lego Wedo, and others where you would just make certain types of projects. Between them, there were 30 minute intervals, where you could join groups and collaborate, and you can talk to others, and more. Oooh ooh! And in the beginning the staff has a speech about the history of scratch and the staff and stuff. And in the end, everybody had pizza and soda! Woohoo Sprite! Also in the beggining you would get a packet, and there were certain activities. One was to get a signature from different people, that have certain achievements, such as "has a scratch account on the website", "has made a project", "knows who gobo is", and more. Also in the beggining, you would get a name tag of course, and it would either have the scratch cat on it, an octopus, or something else. Well one project was to find 2 other people who have the different character on their name tag than yours, and make a collaborate project using those characters. By doing certain activities, you could win a picoboard, a scratch t-shirt, and more.

That should have enough info. You just have to sort it out and put it in order hehe.

Yeah, my bad. For two months he was the front page, almost all of his projects were on it. Then he just quit. After two months of sudden fame.

I'm not so much for having chapters on users just because they were famous. I have chapters on them if they had a specific impact on the Scratch Community, such as starting something big. But I'll have a think about it... you can also suggest some more users.

Re: An un-brief history of Scratch

I gotta be honest; newareagle definetly needs a mention. Check out some of his projects, especially Factory Escape Saga. You'll see why he had a dynasty going on the front page for 2 months. He was the biggest contributor back in the age of games last year, before all the cats and arguements, and all that bad stuff.

What about when (now) everyone was getting mad that animations werent real projects and that anthros were stupid? That had a big impact on scratch. (I love anthros and games, so I was in the middle of everything)

Even if it had a big impact, it's not a very nice topic. I know that people are getting upset, but it wouldn't be very nice to the people who make animations and Anthros projects. I'm not such a big fan of them, but I like to show them some respect anyway.

But thanks for the suggestion!

Re: An un-brief history of Scratch

OK, good start on the Age of Games section. You might also want to mention m44 and bosox397, as they were the other main contributors, with bosox being the main one near the end of the game age. I'll tell you if I think of any more.

And then came Bosox397... He had the entire (except featured and newest and surprise) front page under his control. But it did not last, and thus, ended a great dynasty, and eventually lead to the rise if the artists, which soon evolved into the animators (which we are currently in right now).

What will be next? Will the gamers seek revenge? (as was first attempted with the protests)    smile

Art does not belong on the Scratch programming website. Programming means games, animations, stories, simulations, etc.         -Pinochio

I will try and take the front page by force, once again. I just need to finish my games...
MUAHAHAHAHA!!!
tongue

The problem is, You can't have more than one project on the Front page at a time. Back when they ruled, there projects were Top loved, Top viewed and Top Dowloaded, making just that much more popular. I dislike that rule. I want a takeover.
