The sound track is from bionic commando from the NES. The graphics come from random free sources on the internet. Gameplay: Use the arrow keys to turn and up and down to fire rockets to speed up and slow down. Press the space bar to fire. There are 3 powerups, Health (gears) gives you 10 extra health, shield gives you a 2 hit shield (saves you from 2 hits), this can be stacked for a total of 4 hits of protection. And the superman logo, which gives you 10 seconds of super powers (you can not die, and you can ram asteroids). You have 100 health, with no max health, each hit takes away your health (big = 50, Medium = 30 or 40, and small = 20) See how far you can get, and good luck. http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/dmagee/5670_sm.png Asteroids (Incomplete and not yet ready) http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/dmagee/4420 This project is not yet ready. I am just sharing it so I can get some suggestions, and feedback. Please let me know what you think. There will be 10 levels, score based and powerups. New additions, rotating asteroids! You also only have 4 shots and you have to wait a second to recharge. I have added some sound effects, and a shield power up. I am currently working on a damage system. I would like to thank the many free resources on the web for the sound effects. http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/dmagee/4420_sm.png Space Invasion Final http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/dmagee/3680 My final revision of the test I made at lunch today. I made the game a little easier and added missiles with AoE effect. This is a very simple construct I'd expect most beginers to grasp quickly and put into motion in their own projects. I tried to put most key and mouse events inside the Stage and then use sprite events to control what happens with the sprites. The only thing I wish I could do is spawn new instances of sprites, but this is only a learning tool so I suspect that is too complicated to be included. In any case, I really love this tool. It is a great way to introduce people to basic concepts. I hope to use it in my classes. Controls: Mouse Move, Space for Missles, click to shoot and detonate missiles. http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/dmagee/3680_sm.png Space Invasion quick test http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/dmagee/3464 A second revision on the space invaders demo I made. Use the mouse to move and click the mouse to fire. I tried to make the game a little hard, so keep trying. I really love this tool. It is a great way to introduce people to basic concepts. I hope to use it in my classes. http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/dmagee/3464_sm.png
