Alien Pinball

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/BoltBait/687332_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />Alien Pinball Machine
By BoltBait

Development so far is about 14 hours.

This is painfully slow on the web, so download to play it. Sorry, but for a machine this complicated, the online player just can't handle it.

This is based on a graphic I found on the web and the Simple Pinball Base project by Paddle2See. Thanks for that!

This is a work in progress.

Stuff I still need to do:
- Fix the flippers
- Fix lower rails

/__ CLICK LOVE IT
\

HOW TO PLAY:
Use the left and right arrow keys to control the flippers. Your score is shown in the upper left, balls in lower right, bonus in upper right. Knock down all drop-targets to increase bonus multiplier.

NOTE:
If you remix this game, please don't remove my name from the splash screen and project notes. Just add your name along side of mine. Thanks!

Online Vs Offline Test

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/BoltBait/676153_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />This is an easy way to see if your project is running on the web site ("Online") or in the development environment ("Off-line").

Tested with Scratch 1.4 release and the online player v37.

Why would you need that information? Well, the timing is different between the two environments so you can detect where your project is playing and adjust timing events or maybe you could just be mean and not let your project run if it has been downloaded!

This is the second time I've made a project like this. The first one doesn't work anymore since the scratch team fixed the bug in the online player. Let's see how long it takes them to fix this one. ;)

NOTE: If you don't understand what this project does, you don't need to know... just move on... nothing to see here... try one of my games instead.

Pyramid Solitaire

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/BoltBait/662083_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />Pyramid Solitaire is a simple game. Click on the cards to pick them up. You can only pick a card up if it is not covered by cards below. A card can be picked up if it is one rank above or one rank below the top card of the discard pile. (Aces wrap to Kings.) If you can't pick up any cards from the pyramid, click the deck for the next card. Pick up the top card of the pyramid to win the game.

If you click the "Small" button, it will only build a small pyramid. I don't think it makes the game any easier, but you can try it if you like.

Note to the Scratch Team:

The following things would have made this project much easier...

1) a Factorial function
2) a Clear block that I could give X1,Y1-X2,Y2 coordinates to so that only that area would have been cleared.
3) Scrollwheel support for the scripts window.
4) A way to change the mouse cursor to an hour glass, hand, arrow, etc.

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/BoltBait/516292_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />Use the controls to enter a number (to be reduced) and click the button to see a reduction of that square root.

The one nice thing about this project is the fact that it not only gives you the answer, but it satisfies the instructor's request to "show your work"!

By the way, after your homework is done, be sure to check out my games.

Yellow controls are
A, D, and W.

Orange controls are
Left, Right, and Up arrows.

When the bees touch, who ever is higher on the screen gets a point.

Touching the rose at the bottom of the screen is worth 5 points when it shows up.

Notes:
I started this project with flatcoats to teach him how to write games using Scratch. I finished it myself because I'm not sure if we will have any more time to work on it together. Our original idea was to create a "Joust" clone using built-in sprites and backgrounds. I think it turned out pretty well.

Thanks goes to archmage for his "Sprite Movement Done Right" project.

They got loose and are throwing stuff out of a tree! I better use the arrow keys to control this trampoline to send the stuff back up into the tree.

Miss 5 items and it's Game Over! However, if you save the cat, you'll get more time.

Cribbage Solitaire

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/BoltBait/480942_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />This is a remake of a game by mdusoe. I loved his game so much, but it had a few bugs in it so I fixed it up... (well, to be honest, only his code for counting 15s remains--brilliant stuff!)

Here is a page on how to score Cribbage hands: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rules_of_cribbage#The_show

The goal, of course, is to top 121 points (a full Cribbage game). If you beat the game, you'll see a nice display!

When the game is over, click the green flag to play again.

Enjoy. I know I will! (I play this game more than all other scratch games combined--except pinball!)

P.S. I get 2 points for the scripts (get it? Ha!) :D

Version 1.1:
Added an option so the computer would count the hands quicker. If you are familiar with how hands are counted and just want to speed the game up, click the box.

Version 1.2:
Added individual hand scores shown.

Not much to say about this one except that it is unfinished. I still want to add some more features into it. I'll polish this one up later when I have more time. I still need to add the ability to "Split Pairs".

v1.1
Added a little polish.
Updated card images to ones by swtte.
Added Insurance.
Added Double Down on 9, 10, 11.
Dealer shuffles before running out of cards.

Enjoy.

Hangman

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/BoltBait/463279_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />This is my version of the classic game Hangman.

Every time you play this game you'll get a different set of words. It includes over five hundred words in its dictionary.

You can enter your guess either by using the on-screen keyboard or your own computer's keyboard.

v1.1
Fixed a bug with the keyboard and added about 100 phrases.

v1.2
Rewrote the keyboard widget to eliminate timing issues.

v1.4
Rewrote it for Scratch version 1.4. It should be very easy for you to add words to the dictionary now. Enjoy!

NOTE: The only way to win this game is to click the "Love It" link. ;)

This is my take on the classic Asteroids game. It is different, but hopefully still fun.

Scratch ROCKS!

This is my version of the classic computer game Hunt the Wumpus.

It differs from the original in subtile ways, but hopefully you'll still have fun. Each time you click the green flag the maze is randomized.

Instructions are included.
