Halloween Cheddargirl

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/cheddargirl/700276_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />It's October - The Halloween season approaches fast, and and I decide to go out for the night dressed as a witch. Change my outfit with a few clicks of a mouse and create a look fit for the upcoming spooky holiday taking place on October 31.

The outfit isn't the only thing you can change: click on other objects elsewhere... if you dare *mwahaha*
----------
Background music:
Based on intro to "Approaching One" by Shinkichi Mitsumune. (Instrument used is #103 FX-echoes, but may sound differently online and offline due to Scratch's Java's online soundbank).
----------
Note: The clicks have a tendency to be ultra-sensitive. (For example: sometimes clicking on the pants/skirt will also change the shoes as well). I'm still trying to fix that ^^;

Balloon Pop

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/cheddargirl/666347_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />Look! Up in the sky! It's Cheddargirl! It's balloons! It's... flying porcupines?!

Join me in my next game of high flying adventure!... Well, sort of. :P

Use the arrow keys to move as you float through the sky. Pop the balloons. How many can you pop before you're caught?

EDIT - Sept 5, 2009 Beware, the more balloons you pop, the more porcupines appear in the sky ready to knock you down!

Music: Popcorn (by Jean Michel Jarre).

Apologies if the fickle Java player becomes mean and makes the space bar button command not work. :(

Note: I am aware that there is a small glitch that causes the counter to increase after the game is over. I believe this is due to a small glitch with the way Java executes hide/show blocks and/or broadcasted messages.

Download for faster and Java-glitch-free gameplay.

a short Scratch animation produced by cheddargirl

Girl meets plushie, girl wants plushie, girl sees pricetag of plushie but doesn't have the cash to buy plushie. What happens next? You'll just have to watch the entire animation to find out.

----------

A short animation by me, based on a true story. My last project before I go back to academic work. :P

Stick around after the credits for a quote and a picture of the real plush this story is based upon.

5 Random Facts About Cheddargirl

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/cheddargirl/632039_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />Yeah... I can't believe I actually did this project. Yep, jumped on the "5 Random Facts" bandwagon.

But nevermind, just press the spacebar. :P

Oh, one more thing: it seems that the Java player has shrunk the text down to a tiny size. You may want to download the project if you have difficulty reading the text.

Background Design and Program experimentation in Scratch.

Use the Left and Right arrow keys to move left and right and explore the city.

All images created by me. Feel free to use these images for your scratch projects; or if you're more interested in using the code, you're free to use that as well. And tell me where you're using them because I want to see them! :D

BUT CLAIM THE IMAGES AS YOURS AND THE SCRATCH CAT SHALL SMITE THEE WHERE YOU STAND. >:(

YGO_ROA v1.1

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/cheddargirl/597031_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />Yu-Gi-Oh!: Rise of Apophis (1.1 release)

A new darkness has arisen. Escape from Apophis's grasp before he rises to power and you are destroyed by the darkness.
----------
I had actually formulated this game before I even knew a shred of programming in general, and I thought it would remain a fangurlish dream... until now. I started this project in October of 2008, it took me until now (June 2009) to get it complete.
----------
Game may not load or may suffer from online lag depending on internet connection and browser settings. Additionally, some of the script commands does not run properly online (perhaps a broadcast message error).
Although the online glitches are not detrimental to gameplay, downloading and playing in presentation mode is recommended.
----------
Version 1.1 release:
I fixed some of the glitches that was associated with this program. However, gameplay is pretty much the same as the original 1.0 release.

Jumping movement has been slightly changed. Also, I considered some advice form Houndolon and re-positioned some of the 'Embodiments of Apophis' enemies so you won't be ambushed so quickly when moving from room to room.

Possible Glitches* (compare with original notes to shee what has been fixed):
- Graphic effects at end of game in disconjunction.
- Lag glitch when sometimes transversing across platforms; another hover glitch in which you can literally just float over a platform break.
- Breakage of Apophis's body (Apophis is actually composed of two sprites).
- One of the enemies goes 'flying' off platform.

*In regards to 'Possible Glitches': I haven't been able to reproduce the glitches in 1.0, so I'm not sure if these glitches still exist or not.
----------
There is still the issue of the game not resetting properly online when hitting the green flag button. You may have to refresh the page.
----------
Feedback is appreciated and welcome with open arms, whether it's positive feedback or discerning criticism.

Spam will be cooked and served with rice for my dinner, and flames will be used to cook the spam. *OMNOMNOM*
----------
Big, big shout out and thanks to DairuAnubis (deviantART) and XD_Master (Scratch).
Oh, and many, many thanks to Geno (janime) who provided the screenshots that aided me in designing some of the enemy sprites.

And thanks to everyone who provided feedback for 1.0. You guys rock :)

----------
Known Glitches:
- Lag glitch when suddenly shifting directions from left to right and vice versa.
- Graphic effects at end of game in disconjunction.
- When landing on platform, sprite may stay in jump mode (what I call a hover glitch)
- Lag glitch when sometimes transversing across platforms; another hover glitch in which you can literally just float over a platform break.
- Conflict between when both enemy and main character lose at the same time.
- Breakage of Apophis's body (Apophis is actually composed of two sprites).
- One of the enemies goes 'flying'.

Glitches to be fixed when I'm not busy or when I'm not feeling lazy :P
----------
There is also an additional glitch online, where the game does not re-start properly. You may have to refresh the page.

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/cheddargirl/552349_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />I've been given the opportunity to be the first ever Scratch curator for a week (EDIT: The length of time a person is curator has now been extended to two weeks, as recently decided by the Scratch Team)

However, I am finding that so many people are:
1) confusing the word 'curator' for 'creator'.
2) adding me to their friends list or commenting on my projects instead of the ones I feature.
3) spamming me with requests to look at their projects.

As curator, I took time out to look for projects that were interesting, unusual, and perhaps not viewed enough by the Scratch community. So please take the time out to view and look over other people's projects. Thank you.

Musical Scratch Cats

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/cheddargirl/533212_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />See the Scratch cats play the piano!

You can manipulate the sounds of the piano by moving the sliders (Piano1 for the melody line, Piano2 for the harmony line)

Press 'space' after moving the slider(s), then press '1', and listen to them play.

----------
*Notes:*
There seems to be some trouble with synchronization of scripts, usually when executing the project for the first time, but, from observation, scripts seem to be better synchronized when played a couple of times over, or when downloaded and run in turbo speed single stepping mode (thanks to hmnwilson for the tip). I haven't found a way around this problem yet for online viewers.

Song is a shortened version of a personal piano composition I created for the piano, entitled "Melancholy Musicbox" (you may recognize it from a deviantART film called "Revolve", which was also produced by me.)
I'm considering to have the Scratch Cats be able to play more than one song (as "Melancholy Musicbox" tends to be kind of annoying after a while ^^;)
