Planet Collision

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/SmartIrishKid/645346_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />What happens when a small planet is within an asteroid belt. Eventually, the planet will gain mass (size) due to the collisions, and mostly clear its orbit.

In reality, a planet would not be entirely in free-fall, the asteroids would collide too, and all the objects would be affected by gravity. But I suppose anyone who remixes this can figure that out ;-)

Input a 4-digit code (it must be 4 digits, or it will not work) and encode or decode a message!
Unfortunately, the original text can only be translated if it is completely lowercase. Sorry.

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/SmartIrishKid/534059_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />A geography quiz from The Lord of the Rings! I may add more places later.
EDIT: And someone please remind me to put a "round" function on the distance.

You will be given a place-name to find on the map. Click to guess the location, and you will be scored based on how close you came, and how quickly you found it.

Post your best score after 20 tries.

Controls:
UP/DOWN = spin main arm
LEFT/RIGHT = spin forearm
W/S = spin wrist
A/D = control fingers

Calligraphy

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/SmartIrishKid/480253_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />Since I do so much calligraphy myself, here is a project based on it!

Drag the mouse to write. Use the number keys from 1 to 4 to change the size.
(Note: Don't write too fast, or it will not work "write." ;-) )

The font I used in the small picture is called Hobbiton Brush-hand, created by Nancy Lorenz.

Codemaster

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/SmartIrishKid/464310_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />Encodes or decodes a string of letters using lists. The output code is ABCDEFGHIJ... = QWERTYUIOP etc...

First, type in the letters. This is not case sensitive. Press Space when you are done, and it will encode/decode what you typed. (Note: There is a half second delay between letters, so don't type too fast!)

Soundwave Scroller

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/SmartIrishKid/457663_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />Uses a combination of the basic scrolling AND sound history recording techniques. If anyone wants to extend it, that is fine with me.
(This would work better if the pen could work on sprites...maybe with an option or something...)

BUG NOTE: Only works when downloaded. Also, it takes a while (at least on my computer) for the bars to appear on-screen, for some reason.

May It Be

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/SmartIrishKid/448421_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />"May It Be", composed by Enya for The Lord of the Rings, sung by Tara Scammell.

"Mornie utúlie" and "Mornie alantie" are Elvish; they mean, respectively, "Darkness has come" and "Darkness has fallen".

Programming notes:
I used a font called Hobbiton Brush-Hand. The lyrics change using a "wait until" block, which uses the timer to determine the correct change time. Thanks to andresmh for helping with the sound file conversion.

(And for those who would criticize me for not including the apostrophe on "shadow's", it is there. The font renders it as a period, for some reason.)

<img src="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/SmartIrishKid/426221_sm.png" width="148" height="111" border="1" alt="" />Transfers what's in the big picture to a smaller icon. It takes a while to transfer. though. Press UP to turn pen on. Press DOWN for pen off. Hold SPACE while pressing down to start the transfer. (I don't know why I didn't just use the basic "when mouse clicked..." I guess I just forgot.)
