The gist: A Warriors RPG game with choices that shape the game, minigames, battles, original characters and an original plot.

The idea: You are a young kittypet who has been turned out into the forest because your twolegs are moving house… right into the center of Clan territory. (Possible choice of all clans, maybe depending on which direction you walk in.) The clan takes you in and you become learned in the ways of being a Clan cat, and go through apprenticehood. You become a warrior, and soon something terrible happens that must be either escaped or fought. There will be multiple endings. There will also be hunting (Different environments and prey depending on your clan), fishing (Riverclan specific), garbage picking (Shadowclan specific) and patrol minigames. Plot events may occur through something you find via a patrol.

The plot: You are turned out of your Kittypet home, confused. You are in a forest. You have the choice of going forwards, backwards, left, or right. This will determine which clan you meet. It will be set in either the future or the past, so the other cats will all either be descendants or ancestors of the cats in the books. This is so that it doesn't conflict with the Warriors books. You are found by a patrol team, who initially is suspicious, but takes you to their camp to see the leader after they see that you are confused. You are taken in by the Clan, even though they don't think much of you. You become an apprentice, and learn how to hunt and how to patrol, as well as some other things. At the end of your apprenticeship, you become a fully fledged warrior. After a little while as a warrior, something happens where you have a choice: fight, or flight. The event is not chosen yet, and your experience may be different depending on your clan. This is the place where the most choices are made. There will be Bad Ends and Good Ends, as well as a few bittersweet ones.

The Plan (subject to change and development): We will brainstorm plot ideas, and I will make a plot flowchart to make the plot easy to understand for everyone, as there will be different branches of the plot. Each choice made adds or removes some from a variable (example: Do you like clan life? No: Hostility+1, Trust-1. Yes: Hostility-1, Friendliness+1), and the amount in each variable determines what path you take and your relationship to the other cats.

What is needed:
Artists/animators.

The animations needed will probably just be simple animations that can be made once with an outline then filled in for different characters-walking, running, fighting, stalking, etcetera. But more complicated animations might be needed for cutscenes and things. Artists are greatly needed. If you can draw warrior cats, forests, backgrounds, etcetera, then we need YOU! Once we have completely decided what we want to do, I will draw and upload sketches of backgrounds to be done once we have fully decided what we are going to do. Background Artists are MASSIVELY needed.

Programmers.

The people who program it and put everything together, fix bugs, and make it work. Programmers must understand variables and be able to use them. If you want to be a programmer, post a link to a project or two that you've made that you are proud of. Programming the game is also a very important job.

Writers.

You may be thinking “What? Writers?” but writers are actually an important part of the collab. Writers write the script of what the characters say, and also help finalize the plot. Writers will have the most say in what happens in what happens in which scenes.

It is everyone's job to think of ideas for the plot and everyone's job to think of ideas for the game. If you have any, post them and we'll discuss them. All members must be ready to take suggestions from other members.

Well, I suppose we can start planning now, even though we are at 3 people right now. If we have a better plan, maybe more people would join.

Let's start with how “clan-life” gameplay would work. After the clan accepts you as an apprentice, (A meeting is called and you have a variable-affecting choice to make) you are taken to the camp and told to report to the Apprentices' Den of your camp. The rest of the dens and places would not be clickable unless you had a reason for going there. Here's a sketch of an example den.

As you can probably tell, it's bigger than the Scratch project window. The way it works is sort of like a scrolling panorama photo. You use the left-and-right arrows on your keyboard to scroll the camera left and right. If that is confusing, think of a scrolling game where the ground moves when you press the arrow keys. If it's still confusing, think of what you see through your eyes. When you walk sideways, what you can see changes. This part is in first person.

An important part of Clan life is border patrols. This minigame is in third-person view. You are looking top-down at your cat, flanked by two other cats. Cats and will pop out of the bushes and hiss, and you have to click them to go away. You also have to click on rocks and trees, which the other cats will mark (No peeing animation, that's NFE mark). The walking speed and amount of will gradually speed up. You have to do this minigame for 60 seconds, and you will be given a mark based on your percentage by your mentor.

Hunting is another important aspect. This minigame is third-person view. Different types of prey depending on your clan (Windclan gets rabbits and mice, Thunderclan gets rats and finches, Shadowclan gets crows and frogs, and Riverclan gets moorhens and fish.) The Riverclan game is slightly different. In all the other clans' hunting minigames, prey runs across the screen and pops out from behind rocks and bushes. Flying prey flies around the screen before flying off if it is not caught. Prey can be caught by touching it. To catch ground prey, you must stealthily sneak and pounce on it, unless it is running. To catch sky prey, you must leap. You must catch as much prey as you can within (30?) seconds.

Riverclan's hunting game is in the first person view. You are on the bank of a river that fish swim down. You must click the fish to grab it with your paw. However, fish are fast-moving, and you can't just click on the end of a fish, you have to click so that your paw will get to where the fish actually is by the time you've got your paw in the water. Occasionally moorhens will fly down. Moorhens are 5 bonus points because of how many cats the feed, but they are rare.

After 2 days of getting a good amount of points in hunting and patrol, your mentor recommends you to the leader to become a warrior. A Warrior Ceremony occurs, and a few days after becoming a warrior, the event happens.

A forest fire from which the cats have to journey away?
A flood?
Rabies outbreak?
Loners who want to take over the clans?
Cats from another of the forest clans who want to take over your clan?
A long, extremely snowy leaf-bare where food can not be found and the only choice is to leave camp in the cold or starve?
A group of cats who join all four clans but are secretly stealing kits to raise in another part of the forest as an attack force to take over?

If anyone has any more ideas, post them. Also, we still really really really need collaborators, so if anyone's interested to draw prey, cats, or backgrounds, help program the game, or help write a script, please join us!

Why do you want to collab with this team? I have always loved the warrior series and like the idea of creating an interactive story of our own. Also, I want this experience that combines three things I love: Scratch, Warriors, and writing!

Hey, I know I'm not part of the group yet but I thought the Rabies outbreak event that you mentioned earlier could be awesome! What if, slowly, a few of the cats started turning on each other (also running away from the clans and basically going crazy), and then its up to the players (the kitty pet) to prove themselves true warriors by wandering back into human territory to get help from some kind of two-leg vet? Or maybe the kitty pet's original owner was a vet and the kitty pet had to convince a group of cats to come with him and get the medicine?


Oh yeah… I'm not part of the group yet… got a little carried away there!
