What's the point? The ST never listens to our suggestions, so there's no point in making them.
Seriously. There are a bunch of topics that have a lot of supporters, no reason to not support, are really good suggestions altogether, and yet the ST doesn't even care! Okay, okay… they paid attention to 1 suggestion, but that had like 250 supporters and it took like a year.
Just pay attention to our suggestions or don't even have this forum at all.
(Not that they'll ever see this…)

If there were no feedback from the community, Scratch would be very different.

The number of supporters doesn't matter. If the idea isn't refined enough then of course the scratch team won't consider it. I said this all a while ago but nobody listened of course. Supporting a suggestion is almost worthless What's the point? The ST never listens to our suggestions, so there's no point in making them.

If the ST doesn’t listen, then why are you posting this? They won’t close the forum, as they don’t read these.

The ST doesn't even listen to the feedback anyway, so there's no point in it. If there were no feedback from the community, Scratch would be very different.

what happened to that suggestion page where people would vote on stuff and the scratch team would respond to the suggestions with the most votes

I know, I liked that. I don't know why they got rid of that. The problem was you only got 10 votes. what happened to that suggestion page where people would vote on stuff and the scratch team would respond to the suggestions with the most votes

It was probably removed when some useless suggestions got pushed up to the top by a mob of people and more reasonable suggestions went largely ignored, not unlike the system today.

Yeah, but it's nice to have a thing where you can vote on suggestions and stuff, it can make the ST notice which ones are more supported and if they're not good, explain why… It was probably removed when some useless suggestions got pushed up to the top by a mob of people and more reasonable suggestions went largely ignored, not unlike the system today.

Perhaps you really have a point here. In earlier times, when there were just a handful active scratchers, an open suggestion might have been much valuable. Today, it is probably too much effort to browse through the suggestion for gems. The ST might be busy with keeping Scratch running after various browser and Adobe Flash updates. Other things like cloud lists and functions with return values are likely in development and under test. As far as I understand, the big problem is that you cannot take back additions to Scratch - the moment hey are out, thousands of projects are created using them. Scratch is a running system with too much at stake to make experiments.
Considering Sturgeon's law (which totally applies to the forum) and the limited resources to implement and test new stuff, the suggestion forum is probably not of much use at the moment.

I think the main issue is time.
I've once had one of my suggestions implemented in a few days…
but it was really pretty small. xD (It was: Make the scroll bars in the editor darker).

Four scenarios:
1. The ST reads the suggestions and acts upon them. They see this topic. They delete the Suggestions forum.
2. The ST reads the suggestions and dos not act upon them. They see this topic. They do not care and keep the forum open.
3. The ST reads the suggestions and dos not act upon them unless there is a reason. They see this topic. They laugh. “When is this going to happen?” They keep the topic open.
4. The ST does not reads the suggestions nor act upon them. They do not even see this topic. The forum remains open.
