While it should definitely go somewhere on the front page, the blue bar just isn't the place, even though there is room. The links are more of the pillars of Scratch: creating, exploring, discussing, and giving or getting help. I think your logic (there is room on some bar at the top -> a link to a wiki on the subject of the website should be there) is a tiny bit flawed.

Again, support to OP, which is putting it SOMEWHERE on the front page, not a specific position on it.

It would be even better on the navbar, right after ‘Discuss’, so it could be accessed from anywhere.
I agree. The wiki is a very valuable resource with (I think) over 800 articles on it about a wide range of things from 1.4 history to the blocks to tutorials to features like reporting comments. All of these are important things to know as a New Scratcher and there's a lot of stuff that you would never know unless you read the wiki.

It's also catering for both English and German as around 250 of our articles are linked to the German versions which then usually link back.

I think it should definetely be on the navbar because there's a) just the right amount of space and b) it's the place where the wiki's most going to get noticed which I think is what the wiki deserves because it has so much information on it.

While I agree its name is not one of the pillars of Scratch I think its purpose is: it provides you with help. It being on the navbar in my opinion would help users by allowing them to see the valuable resource all of the time instead of hiding it away. While it being on the frontpage would not be hiding it away I think that it is good enough as a resource to be on the navbar.

EDIT: Stupid mobile page.

Maybe have the wiki link called “Browse” or something like that? (I'm having a brain fart right now.)

EDIT2: Fixed.

I definitely support.
If it hadn't been for the link on the front page in 1.4 I would never have known about the wiki.
If you just think about how many New Scratchers probably don't know about the wiki….
Even though lots more know now because of the recent news post, many scratchers who join in the future won't know anything about it.
Also it really weakens the link between Scratch and the Scratch Wiki. It's like the Scratch Wiki isn't part of Scratch.

Well, Listwizard, aka Failord, brought up this point:

Well, check that. It's not quite right. More like, the wiki isn't a part of the site officially and totally built by the creators of Scratch; it's a wiki, so they have a personalized wikipedia about Scratch.

I think it deserves a place on the front page or AT LEAST the Announcements forums. But taking it to the header bar is a little much in my opinion.
Personally, I don't think it should go on the Announcements forums. The majority of Scratchers don't go on the forums, so that wouldn't quite work.

I forget how I learned about the wiki, but I think I just found the link on the front page. I was quite new, and the 1.4 front page was quite cluttered-looking. I just don't think some random person would want to see “Wiki” next to these really deep, awesome words that are, in short, the pillars of Scratch.

It's a great resource now, but a single resource just wouldn't fit with these “pillars”.

On the Help page is too hard to miss, but on the bar at the top is too unfitting. Somewhere over the rainbow on the front page that isn't the blue bar is just right.

Well, the wiki actually is a part of Scratch. Only Scratch users can join. The wiki used to be on wikia, but the ST wanted it to be closer to the main site, (and to have no ads ) so they put it on the MIT domain. So I think the wiki link is a thing to put on the bar at the top.

I suppose that I think that “wiki” is a really deep awesome word.

Also while the wiki is only one resource it's such a big “one resource” I feel that it's got as much information as the help page has. I also think that it contains a different sort of information which can't be found so easily anywhere else. It doesn't go into immense detail about making scripts and game but instead tells you about the blocks that make them, telling you what they do which is not something other things linked to on the help page do.

If the help page can go on the “blue bar” I feel the wiki can to because it's just as big and doesn't totally repeat what the help page says.

Hey everyone! The wiki's current lack of Scratch-styling is temporary, so don't worry. We're migrating the wiki and things still have to be worked out. Thanks!
? It would to me. They would be like ‘what’s Scratch-Styling?' and te new ones who are just finding out about Scratch would be wondering about the migration.

That's Lightnin's fault. >.<

Those articles go into pretty immense detail, especially the Paint Editor article, which contains each date of each specific update. And they all provide information on how to do these things, just not on individual blocks pages. Out of the 800+ pages, only about 100 are on individual blocks, so like 13%.

Good point! I think in a way this strengthens my argument. The wiki tells you about everything in Scratch (which can't always be found on the Help page) and goes into immense detail about making scripts and games. I don't see why something which is that helpful shouldn't go on the “blue bar”.

Well in 1.4 it would have belonged there if given the space, because those were general links, and the wiki is getting expanded bit by bit.
Now in 2.0, I still think it wouldn't fit right, although it is such a great resource. A great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great (well not quite that great!) resource. I just think I don't quite want the wiki following me everywhere. If someone else did, wouldn't they just bookmark it?

There should be a box on the front page titled “Really helpful links” and the wiki should be one of them, with an image and a quick video explaining it.
