A proposal on the "disappearing costume bug".
I've been hearing a lot about this bug lately. Is it happening more often? I am not affected (yet).
I agree that this is a serious bug and one that needs to be taken seriously by the ST. Scratchers need to make sure that their work is never lost permanently. The information I can collect is that Scratchers complain about something that has disappeared in a project. Usually, it's just one or two costumes or sounds that are deleted. Scripts and entire sprites don't seem to be targeted. The bug strikes without any warning and could strike at any time. Once the bug strikes, the costumes and sounds are deleted FOREVER. Which is a real tragedy. It's like a deadly virus taking away your loved ones (in this case, costumes and sounds). The only way to get them back is to reinsert them. Some Scratchers are thinking this may be due to a glitch in the saving system. We can only speculate. Some have even proposed internet connection problems, although this is not likely.
Usually it's only one or two costumes or sounds, but I've heard worse. I think someone had said maybe about half of their project was gone (I'm not sure). This is very serious. We cannot lose half of a project to some glitch. This could definitely upset the user, make them hate the ST, and cause rage and possibly even “Kaj II”. Either that or they'd take the much more common path and quit Scratch altogether.
Scratchers should never lose their work. Especially not permanently. I ask that this bug be fixed (or at least attempted to be fixed) as soon and as quickly as possible.
Thank you.

Supposedly the ST did fix this glitch, but it looks like it's back, and worse. Originally, they would come back when you reloaded the project, but it looks like now it's permanent.

You can be assured that we are very concerned with loss of data on projects and are doing everything we can to fix this issue.
