How Do You Make It so when I do @______ it's a link? PLEASE HELP!!

Hi! So I really wanted to do an Awesome People column in my profile, providing links to the people. I also wanted to thank people in my projects and have that be a link also. How do I do that?

But, in the forums, this does work:

[url=http://scratch.mit.edu/users/USERNAME]@USERNAME[/url]

and USERNAME is the name of the person who you want to link to.
