Update on Cloud variables
Starting today, we will be turning on a beta version of cloud variables. Cloud variables will only store numerical values for now, and will be limited to 10 cloud variables per project.
This is the first step in rolling out cloud data capabilities for Scratch 2.0. After we work out any issues that arise, we plan to enable additional features (such as cloud lists and support for strings).
While chat-rooms are technically possible using the current system, we are not allowing them now. We may reconsider this policy, depending on how cloud data is used.
We have decided to make logs of all cloud data public. This means that any time a program runs a cloud data block, it will record the username and content in a log which is accessible from a link on the project page. Here’s an example log from a project:
The log shows all actions with cloud variables along with the username and the timestamp.
We have a new Cloud data section in our FAQ page - be sure to check it out! If you have any additional questions, please ask on this thread.

Awesome! Now, I'm going to go make a sort of complex project using variables(since there are no cloud lists) to store non-numerical data!

Now to wait for strings. And only 10?
These are the limitations I was afraid of.
Oh, and no chat-rooms. Talksy is dead
On the bright side, at least it is going to begin…

Update on Cloud variables
games like mine require constantly updating variables, this creates a very large cloud log - this may clog up the servers…

It's fine - we are interested in seeing what kind of server loads different projects cause.

Hey! Are you not sure what you shouldn't be doing on Scratch? Reread the Community Guidelines, they'll help.

Update on Cloud variables
I'm so glad they finally restored cloud variables! Just one problem: The fact that only numbers are allowed doesn't stop text from passing through. People with the intelligence can invent an encoder that translates text into numbers, then when it passes through the project on the other side decodes it and gets the message. I found a project that does that here.
