Mario Party
Mario Party. Really great game. I just played Mario Party 8 with my mom earlier today. Do any of you like it too? Which ones do you have? I have Mario Party 8, Mario Party DS, Mario Party 9 and Mario Party Island Tour (which weren't as good as the other 2). Talk about it here.

I actually kind of liked 8. I've never tried any of the other ones, but I would like to! 9 and Island Tour aren't nearly as good as the other ones. In Island Tour, they completely took away the plot of collecting stars, and just made it a regular board game! Although both are still fun! I must say, I can't stand Mario Party 8. Have you played the earlier ones? They were so much better in my opinion. Mario Party 4 is my favorite, but I also love 2 and 7. 4 is best.

I actually had some fun with Mario Party 8, mainly because I haven't played many of the early ones. You know which Mario Party game I have beef with? Mario Party 9. I could NOT enjoy that.

Yeah. 9 was ehh. I still find it to be kind of fun. I actually had some fun with Mario Party 8, mainly because I haven't played many of the early ones. You know which Mario Party game I have beef with? Mario Party 9. I could NOT enjoy that.
in Island Tour, however, they really messed up the board game part! They completely took out the stars! But I guess it's alright, and, much like the character redesign in Sonic Boom, as long as it's not permanent, I guess it's all right.

Mario Party
Lemme re-review them.
WARNING: I only have had first-hand experience with DS, no others. There's Youtube, tho.
I most remember MP games for minigames, and will have the most weight in my review.
1: Overrated. Pretty good for a start, with pretty basic minigames, but nothing compared to others. It's kind of hard to tell how minigames work sometimes.
2: One of my favorites. Had some original minigames, and some revamped versions of MP1 games. Also simplified and set in stone the rules that would define Mario Party up until 9.
3: Very colorful indeed. A lot of the minigames looked really fun. The board play didn't look quite as fun, though. The clock with the 5 on it (the thing that makes the next turn 5 from the end, i don't know the name) was pretty OP.
4: While the board play looks very fun, I felt that a lot of the minigames were lazy. Too much button mashing. Also the graphics didn't really impress me.
Advance: Well, at least you don't necessarily need a friend around to play it. I caught a glimpse of the board play and it seemed OK (however not very fitting of the MP spirit). There wasn't a huge selection of minigames, and a lot of them took a long time to end.
5: Cheesy everything, I might say. I don't know a huge amount of the board play. Some minigames were pretty creative, but a lot, especially Duel minigames, were verrrrrrrrry lazy. It was the first one to feature Toad as a playable character, at least :3
6: Don't know anything about the board play. Lots of minigames controlled weird and others were flat-out stupid. Somewhere in the MP4 to MP6 stretch was the downfall of the series, but I'm not sure which one to say was.
7: I gotta say, the series really picked itself up in Mario Party 7. With a large variety of minigames for all gamer types alongside catchy music, MP7 looked pretty fun. I don't know anything about the board play.
8: This one was mixed. The minigames involved creative uses of the Wii motion controls, and the board play didn't look too bad. One complaint I do have is that everything is in a weird serif font. Why?
DS: The graphics didn't look so great, but the interesting uses of the touch screen make up for that. Board play is pretty basic. One complaint I do have: What ever happened to the energetic voice yelling “Start!” and “Finish!”?
9: Fun fact: This one was the first MP game not to be developed by Hudson Soft. Evidently, it has very different gameplay. I kind of like the new gameplay, TBH. I was getting slightly tired of the old one. I don't like how the minigames, save for a few very game-changing ones at the end, don't mean much. You only get 4 more Mini Stars than whoever comes in dead last, which is less than you can usually get by passing through some on the board with a lucky roll. As for the minigames themselves, I wasn't too dissatisfied with them. I really don't like how the boss fights are competitions, many of them even based completely on luck. Another pointless complaint: Before, it looked like the characters hit the Dice Block like a ? block in the main Mario games. Now, it looks like they hit it to actually roll it like an actual die.
IT: This one was a huge downgrade from the last ones. First of all, the main flow of gameplay isn't very fun, not to mention re-used from Wii Party, made by the same developers (to my knowledge). Too many of the boards are way too short. Sure, the minigames mean a bit more than they did in MP9, but there are a large handful that I really don't like. In fact, I'm not sure there are any minigames that jump out as ones I do like. None of them really fit the spirit of Mario Party. Also, now the die-rolling is really something to complain about. For the vast majority of die rolls that happen, the characters don't even hit the die at all; it's actually rolled using the Touch Screen. Where's the Mario Party in that?
So that's what I think.
