Kigabit Systems BIT OS - An Incredible New Take on the Scratch OS
Hello! I'm Kig, from Kigabit Systems!
I'm calling all programmers, artists and advertisers to work on an OS like none other!
My Background:
I started Scratch way back in 2006, using version 1.4. I worked on Scratch for five years under the account coolcatstudios, then retired. I started learning C++ and other languages. Now i'm back, and I want to start fresh with something amazing. Even though I stopped posting in 2012, I still honed my skills. I actually taught classes on Scratch at LA Makerspace.
The Idea:
To create an incredible new take on the Scratch OS. I want to create an OS more advanced and powerful than any other. Here's how it works: The first versions will just be building an underlying command-line OS, something like cmd on windows or Terminal on mac. Then I want to overlay a graphical interface over that. This idea is actually very similar to how mainstream OSes work today.
The Jobs:
Job Descriptions:
Co-Owner: Helps coordinate the project and gives ideas for the project. Also acts as a “vice CEO”
Art Director: Gives creative advice to Co-Owner and coordinates Artists. Also supplies art to Programmers
Artists: Creates art for the art director and submits it to him/her. Also creates ad art
Head Programmer: Works closely with Art Director and distributes art to programmers. Also helps coordinate Programmers and does a little programming himself/herself
Programmers: Does most of the programming and uses art
Head of Advertising: Coordinates Advertisers and gets advertising deals with Scratch Papers. Also distributes ad art to advertisers.
Advertisers: Work on individual ad campaigns and use ad art
Latest Version:
Currently all we have is a buggy mockup of the command line here

Hi! I would like to join your collaboration as a Head of Advertising, and a Programmer. I already know the owners of the two famous ‘scratchpapers’, Scratchin' Weekly and Scripts Daily. (I happen to be the founder of Scratchin' Weekly) I am quite good at programming in scratch, but have not released many good projects as I'm working on a complicated cloud varible project. I think your idea is a good one and I hope I can join.
Thanks, cheeseeater

Do we have an idea of what the GUI and such will look like?
I have some experience in art, so I might apply, but I want to know what's expected before I sign myself up for anything.

Well, I am mostly a programmer and would not be of any help to you.
However if we get an Art Director (which could be you) they would come up with all the art. I really hope you decide to join!

Well, alright. I'll join, but I think you should know that although I've dabbled in it occasionally, vector graphics are not my forté. I can do freestanding pieces such as this, this or this, but I may have trouble if you need vectors for anything. :PDo we have an idea of what the GUI and such will look like?

Wow! Your art is amazing! Vectors are not required, freestanding is fine. However, I'm not clear on what job you would like to take. I can't wait to have you on the team!
