Is the 2DS worth it?

Nintendo just came out with the new 2DS and I was wondering if it was worth it. Has anyone gotten it?
More info here.

Is the 2DS worth it?

The only reason the 2DS was made so that kids 6 and under could play 3DS games without having to get their eyes damaged by the 3D effects. I'd recomend getting a normal 3DS or 3DS XL if you don't have one already, but if you don't like the 3D or want something cheap, go ahead and get a 2DS.

The new design is also to keep little kids from breaking it in half.

No, I still wouldn't. The 2DS is only $40 cheaper, so unless your family is really poor, I'd go with a 3DS. And you don't have to have the 3D on at all times.

Oh. I think I've used enough screens to know my eyes won't be damaged. xD

xD. Don't think I'll be doing that.

Thanks for the info! Most likely won't be going with a 2DS. Still thinking about 3D.

No.

[Link removed - please don't link to things with profanity] is the best example as to why.

If you're on a budget, then it's a good buy. It's mainly marketed to the “entry-level gamer,” which basically translates to kids too dumb enough to not know how to take care of their electronic devices properly.

I'm currently saving up for a 2DS, so I hope it's worth it. My DS Lite has been broken for over a year (it's old and no longer holds a charge, nor even charge at all for that matter), so I haven't been able to play my DS games in a very long time. There are some 3DS games I want to get and I don't want to have to worry about the 3D feature, because it hurts my eyes. I'm pretty sure I don't have to worry about breaking a 2DS at all. I'm careful with electronic devices.

I'd get a 3DS XL if I had a choice.
But if you want to save money, then go for a 2DS.

If you're just getting it for Pokemon X and Y, like I am, then yes.

BTW, if your eyes hurt because of the 3D, don't worry. After you use it a couple times it doesn't hurt anymore.

I agree.
I could barely stand the 3D the first time I got it, but now I play in it all the time.
BTW Fire Emblem Awakening is a great game to let you get used to the 3D.

Does it only work in 3d mode?

No.
Did you really think that all 3DS games required 3D to play?

No, but I think one of the games I have says ‘3D not required’, so I assumed that some did.

Nope, all can be played in 2D.

I actually don't like that as much because it is a lot harder to transport and it hurts my eyes while the smaller one doesn't
