The Hunger Games
Yeah, the only thing she really did was give Katniss the pin.Madge didn't really have an important part in the story.Exactly my thoughts. *SPOILERS*: They didn't even incorporate Madge!Agreed. The books were much better than the movie.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to emit a beacon of light from my seeing orbs.

I really hate when people are like, oh my gosh best movie ever. Then you ask about the books and they say no I have only seen the movie. I don't understand why you would watch the movie BEFORE you read the books, as books are so much better (with the exception of Star Wars)

I never noticed that, although the chances of it being a coincidence are very little as Suzanne Colleens is American. Authors, Movie producers, and play writers do that type of things often Coincidence or hidden secret? From Hunger Games 1-73 (before Katniss and Peeta) there were 74*24 tributes sent to the arena (because of the double for the 2nd Quarter Quell). That comes out to 1776, the year of the ratification of the Declaration of Independence. The 74th could be considered the start of the revolution of Panem. It all depends IMO on how far ahead she planned the sequels. Quarter Quells were not mentioned until Catching Fire, and it makes a bit more sense for it to simply be 74 games * 24 tributes so that after Katniss's games was the start. But it's also possible that she chose 74 for its proximity to the next Quarter Quell.

What were all the other countries doing at that point in time? Chaos? Prosperity? Gone?

WARNING: IF YOU HAVENT READ OR SEEN CATCHING FIRE DON'T READ THIS! I love the hunger games, but I'm only in the 8th chapter of the first book. I saw Catching Fire last night because my Dad rented it from a RedBox. It was surprisingly good, because i liked how Pitta tried to stop the 75th Hunger Games by pretending that Katniss was pregnant!
