The "Add Everything' (AE) Debate

Really? What is it even for?
This is the biggest argument that has ever struck the Scratch community. Both sides have there points, but this argument has gotten too far.

First of all, Add everything studios cause lag. just look at those studios with over 45,000 projects and watch your computer explode. AE Owners, don't even pretend that you don't know why Scratch is lagging that badly. Adding by tags is removed, but that won't solve the problem.

Secondly, it de-values otherwise great projects. As a maker of actually good quality games, I hate it when it gets compared to Coloring contests, “Add Yourself”, and blank projects as equals. And if viewer really wanted to find other good projects or studios that has that certain type of project (say, platformer) grouped together. 45 pointless AE studios will hinder the viewer's search.

Finally, AE owners think that its a sport or competition. And its “all for fun”. I thought sports took effort. And the only competition now is how much lag everyone can create. Not like anyone can even find the studios with the most projects in the wave of tens of thousands of AE's.

I say stop it. I have tried to ask politely to get my projects removed from AE's, only to get reported for "being disrespectful. I appreciate those AE owners who ask for permission. Then it isn't as bad. Many amazing Scratcher have been banned and others vow to not make another project. I will join the uprising. I will not share another project until this debate is solved, and all my projects are removed from AE's.

What you can do to help: Love ALL anti-AE projects

Do not participate in this “sport”

Fell free to disagree. This is my opinion. But it is also the truest opinion out there.

The "Add Everything' (AE) Debate

Yes, ik. I have 8.00 GB of RAM on my computer, and scratch has over 3 million projects, plus all of the other projects that are in AE studios, that is proably the insane source of lag. So downloading every single project from scratch onto my computer would take long enough, but downloading all those projects PLUS the other projects in AE studios, then my computer would proably say “Memory Allocation Error” or it would just crash or it would stop downloading and show an error like “No memory is left on windows”

If you didn't understand what any of that means then i'm saying that if we don't stop AE studios which are taking up more, more, more space of scratch's server, the scratch's server will run out of memory and stop running, so we will all be forced to not be able to connect to scratch until they have fixed it, and even then they would proably have to restart the server and build the whole website again from the ground up.

The "Add Everything' (AE) Debate

There is no need to make another topic about this - there is already a thread for this. Lets use that thread to discuss further about this matter.

Bringing up this kind of issue can potentially start a flame war -lets not add to the flames and keep things peaceful.
