Hello.

I would like to ask for a block which will play videos in scratch.

I mean like a block in scratch which will literally play videos (like “play video (upload button)”) so that when it is powered it will actually play a video?

For example:

when green flag clicked
play video (video)
stop all

And there could be like a button which you could upload the videos, and then once you uploaded them select which one you want to play?

Because currently, i don't even think uploading videos to scratch is possible without using Animated Gifs or A LOT of images.

Correct. Scratch isn't built to host videos, let alone play them. GIFs and other looping images are a better option, since that is what Scratch can accept.

Sorry to say, but I don't support. It would take up too much server space. It's better to leave yourself with GIFs and animations.

Can be abused, and I don't see any good use of this.

Like if you wanted to make a video that shows how to use scratch, instead of asking the person to go to youtube and watch it, you could just make a project, upload the video onto the project and then make a script that plays the video?

Scratch projects cannot excel 10 50 MB in limit. Videos can take up 20+ MB. So it would take up server space. Sorry, I don't support. If you have a hard time animating, play around with broadcasting, motion blocks, and costumes.

I think that when the new online editor came out there wasn't a limit anymore.. because the editor was ONLINE..

Look at how many sprites and scripts are in this project

No, scratch limits what you can share to the website to 50 mb. (it was 10 mb in 1.4), so it won't work. Sprites and scripts take little space compared to videos. Scripts are probably just text codes plus a coordinate to show where it will show after see inside is clicked.

First off. This could be abused and it would take up too much space! So why not link it to YouTube and give a link in the project notes?
