So, Scratch has seemed very laggy and choppy to me lately, whereas I'd say 3 weeks/ a month ago it seemed fine. I've noticed this pretty much across the board.

That is, on my own very performance-heavy projects, other simpler projects, and on both my computers, both the slower and more powerful ones, and it's more or less the same whether I'm on Firefox or Chrome. Anyone else have this problem?

Performance in my Megaman X projects:
On Chrome, the lag is more irregular. I get lag spikes constantly and randomly, but in between the spikes it is smooth pretty much.

On Firefox, the choppiness is much more constant and uniform. The game runs at a steady, choppified pace, rather than having constant lag spikes interspersed with smoothness.

I know that my brother has a laggy project that is nearly unplayable because of the lag.

^Alright, unless that project is bugged or something… something that darn simple should run like a breeze, no excuses Scratch player!

The ST suspects it has to do with the latest Flash update (11.8). The best temporary fix is to downgrade your version of Flash until the Flash issue is sorted out on our end.

One of the problems with lag I faced is when I had flashing words (as in the color changing continuously) and having a music on top of that. Maybe the site is getting too full?

No, it's most likely a Flash issue as mentioned before. The lag happens primarily when look effect blocks (brightness, ghost, etc.) are being used, particularly when coded in a loop of some sort. If you have Flash 11.8 (which is the most current release), downgrading to 11.7 should make everything relatively normally again.

i have that problem IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME

To fix the lag issue you have to click on the screen but that can be annoying, especially in lone animations

Don’t necropost, this issue was caused by Flash, which Scratch required at the time.
