Uncharted 4 Ideas: What do you want in this game?...
Hello fellow Scratchers and Uncharted fans, at this point I'm supposed to introduce myself and tell you about me, but this is the Internet and that's a bad idea. So, I give you this; I'm the Instant Ninja, and I love Uncharted.
In case you didn't know, Uncharted is a PS3 exclusive action-adventure video game series that chronicles the adventures of fortune hunter Nathan Drake as he fights his way to the secrets of the ancient world. I owe it to Naughty Dog, creators of this series, for introducing me to video games with Crash Bandicoot a decade ago, inspiring me to pursuemy own career in game development, and to creating Uncharted, a series which showed me the basics of writing a great story. With intense action, top-notch gameplay, and good writing, Uncharted has the deserved the place it has in my list of favorite video games…
And naturally I want to see the best out of the series. So, I present to you, my fellow admirers of this series, the ability to share your ideas on what you want in the 4th adventure of Drake. That's what forums are for, and Naughty Dog loves fan service.
I will be sharing my ideas myself in this discussion. Feel free to tell me what you think about them. Also feel very, VERY free to discuss your own ideas about the subject.
Here's what I'm looking for…
Suggestions in…
Story
Gameplay
Locations
Characters
Weapons
Treasure
Multiplayer/Co-op
Levels
Abilities
Things that should be kept from Uncharted 3
Things that should be brought back from Uncharted 1 and 2
Things that are new altogether
Share all these things you have in mind, and, who knows, maybe Naughty Dog will hear what we got and add them to the game.
Special thanks to Scratch for this whole lovely website they got going here and all credit for the Uncharted games goes fully to Naughty Dog, the best game developer out there.

Uncharted 4 Ideas: What do you want in this game?...
So, here's my ideas for the story…
In my opinion, Uncharted has at least two more games to go. This would fit into my story ideas for both. My story is currently under the title of “Uncharted: Drake's Impression”(impression as in being a prisoner), which applies to both what the villains are doing to him and to what his fortune hunting career is to him (pretty deep, huh?) Naturally, your own stories won't share this title if they are themed differently, nor do they have to have “Drake's” in front of them.
So, in my story, Drake and Elena have been married almost a decade after the events of Uncharted 3, Nate has abandoned his controversial fortune hunting career and is trying to keep the secrets of his dark past (shown in parts of Uncharted 3) hidden from his wife and their about 6-year old son, a new character. However, a division of American military investigators begin to seek his assistance in the pursuit of a terrorist, whom I haven't named, who is attempting to track down the lost tomb of Alexander the Great. After some convincing, Nate is pulled back into the treasure hunting game, keeping this hidden from Elena and his son by disguising it as a business trip. Chloe and Cutter return to help Nate track it down as well. After several weeks of exploring, brawling the terrorist's hired guns, and unlocking the secrets of the past, Nate finds that Alexander's tomb is in fact the final hiding place of the legendary Elixir of Life.
At some point, however, things take a drastic turn when Nate discovers that the group of the military corps they are working for are in fact dirty, working alongside the terrorist mastermind. Nate refuses the help them and escapes with his life alongside Chloe and Cutter. They head back to the States, where they find that the villains are tracking down Nate's family in an attempt to blackmail him. The villains capture Elena, who eventually escapes herself, while Nate, his son (who is shocked and feels betrayed by his father's actions), and Sully (who has still remained close with Nate) make their escape. Nate decides to reveal his true identity to his son (as Drake isn't his real name, if you recall), by taking the group to hide with his biological uncle (the whole experience makes his son feel even more lied to.) They hide there for the next few months as fugitives, until their opponents find Nate in a local convenience store and chase him down (the game would open up at this part, and this would be a basic tutorial for the game, and then it would flashback to the above events.) Nate escapes with Sully and his son, but his uncle is tragically killed. They fight off the villains through a tornado (which would hopefully add itself to Uncharted's astounding set-pieces collection) and track them down to the location of Alexander's tomb. Here, the group fight through an army, rescue Elena(after killing the double-crossing leader of the FBI division), and plunge into the tomb. After enduring its obstacles, they discover that the terrorist army is dying off. They find it is because they have found the Elixir, which, by constantly exploiting its healing powers, causes severe damage to human health. This is what killed Alexander, whose body they find. Nate eventually finds the terrorist leader, dying from this. The villain takes it out on Nate's son, shooting him, presumably fatally. Nate decides their only choice is to find the Elixir of Life, despite its side effects, in order to save him. They find that the terrorist are using lethal air-soft guns, as they are loading the Elixir and several artifacts from the tomb onto a derigible. Sully and Nate raid this airship and fight their way through it in a final showdown. The engines fail, sending the airship towards the ground. The airship lands in a nearby city, which Elena has taken their son to and members of the U.S. military (good ones, I assure you) are waiting for them, and the two barely survive the crash. Nate hands one of the soldiers, amongst the wreckage, the Elixir of Life, which the soldier gives to Nate's son before Nate lapses into unconsciousness.
Nate awakes a few days later with his arm in a sling in a hospital, where he discovers that Sully, Elena, and their son are thankfully all right, Sully having only a minor concussion and Nate's son surviving the use of the Elixir. The military has also fabricated a cover story for all of them, keeping the secrets of the Elixir from the world. Nate's son discusses with his father about his decision to keep his former life a secret and of using the potentially dangerous Elixir on him, which Nate apologizes for, although his son says that it isn't necessary and that he understands his decisions. Elena also accepts them, and the game ends with Nate's son asking Nate if he had ever been shot, after which Nate replies, “Have I got a story for you,” before beginning to recall his previous adventures, most likely Uncharted 2.
So there you have it. I tried to use what we learned about Nate in Uncharted 3 and capitalize on it, delving into the hero's past and seeing how it affects his present. This hopefully creates what is a darker, more emotional story. However, I have in mind this dark plot to be mellowed by a funny script, sort of like how they do it in Iron Man 3, and by the pure white-knuckle, high-octane action that Uncharted is known and loved for.
So please, give me your thoughts. Tell what you like and what you think should be changed. Or, better yet, write your own. Maybe I can mold the elements of your plot into mine. I'll be back with more ideas this time involving gameplay.
Please reply!

Uncharted 4 Ideas: What do you want in this game?...
Here's my idea.
I think that The Last of Us was a great game and needed a prequel. I think the end of the Uncharted series would be a great place to start that story.
I think that I'll call it ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Legacy', as in that this is where the story would end for Drake. I want it to be a subtle prequel where you'd only notice the similarities between the two games unless you've played The Last of Us. Anyway, here is the story.
Drake wakes up after the events of U3 and decides to return to America. On the boat trip home, Drake recieves a message from a collegue about a secret group planning a chemical attack in Denver. Drake quickly goes there and meets with his collegue, Jessy. Jessy and Drake then discover that the police department have been called out on a mission in the nearby forest, so Drake and Jessy head down there. However, the town is gassed when the two are in the forest and Jessy is framed as being the leader of the group.
Drake tries to explain that she's innocent when the officer he talks to collapses and dies. Drake is arrested for the murder but escapes on the trip to prison. After recieving a tip-off that Jessy is hiding in Seattle. Drake then hitchhikes there but halfway, he's found by the police. Jessy then comes to his aid but then the terrorists gas the surrounding town. Jessy survives but Drake gets an infection on his arm. In the prison hospital, Drake gets his arm amputated but the hospital is gassed halfway through the operation. Drake wakes up and he helplessly tries to escape before his stump gets infected but then a horribly deformed patient starts attacking him. Without the use of his arm, he can only run away. Soon enough, he is surrounded by a horde of deformed victims and is slowly killed, before Jessy tries to save him.
Gamplay and weapons are just like previous games, however, new weapons like hunting rifles and sawn off shotguns are more prominent, along with special items like snares and bear traps. Co-op is available in the story when you meet Jessy. Deathmatch online and offline multiplayer is available too with levels from the story (cruise, Denver, forest, Seattle and hospital).
You can also buy abilities and you can use up to 3 in each level. The abilities I plan to use are:
Sneaker
Walk quieter and stealth attacks are quicker and have a better success rate.
Camoflauge
You can hide better up trees and in bushes, and you'll also be able to hide your special items on the floor more effectively.
Keen Eye
Allows you to spot enemies more clearly and bear traps (and etc.) on the floor.
Rough Grip
Allows you to climb trees more quickly and gives you the ability to land safely at heights.
Adreneline Boost
Allows you to run quicker and lets you jump more further.
Hardy Body
Allows you to take less fall damage and gives you a longer health bar.
Scavenger
Increases loot amount and supplies on the floor, as well as giving you more inventory space (regardless of backpack).
Expert
Gives you the option of having two more active abilities as well as this ability not taking up any space.

Not half bad. A “The Last of Us” prequel starring Nathan Drake sounds a bit far-fetched, though. Your gameplay ideas, using snares and bear-traps, and all of your multiplayer abilities, however, are flippin' ingenious!

Uncharted 4 Ideas: What do you want in this game?...
Oh yeah, and the idea of the gas(or some other form of it) being used as a weapon by the terrorists or even our heroes is great, too.
The Last of Us is pretty much number 1 on my top ten games I need to play list!

Uncharted 4 Ideas: What do you want in this game?...
Okay. I'm back, and I'm moving on to…
Gameplay.
In my personal opinion, Uncharted 3 was the best in the series. I feel this way because of the way it was presented. It had the best variety of the series, the best set-pieces, the best separating of the main gameplay modes (shooting, climbing, puzzles), and overall the best cinematic quality for this. Uncharted 2's constant use of gunfights made it feel less and less like a cinematic experience and more like, well, a video game. Also, while Uncharted 2 showed a lot of spectacular moments through cutscene, 3 had you playing these scenes (like jumping onto the airplane and escaping the sinking ship.) This interactivity and variety should definitely be kept in Uncharted 4, and would really help the game stand out. In other words, less cutscenes, more gameplay.
And so begins my list of
WHAT SHOULD BE KEPT FROM UNCHARTED 3.
1.Melee system: Uncharted 3's melee system keeps me coming back to the game; so I can see how many ways I can take out the trash (meaning the bad guys.) Brawling multiple goons at once is necessary to keep, as is the more realistic impact sounds and the ability to throw enemies in any direction. More takedowns need to be added to the fray, and some moves should even be brought back from 1 and 2 (I'm not the only one that noticed several of Drake's moves missing from 3.) Overall, the melee was fast and furious, and not including it would be a step-back.
2.Grenade Throwback: This mechanic was great and removed many annoyances from gunplay. It also made you look like a boss at the game. Maybe they could make it a bit different by letting you hold on to it for a bit to let you aim, but otherwise this was perfect.
3.Gunshot sounds: Because they actually sound like GUNS. In Uncharted 2 they were wimpy little klinks, but in Uncharted 3 they were thick and explo…sion…y, sorry for making up word-isms.
4.Cinematic use of camera:In Uncharted 3, the camera wold show Drake from angles on occasion when he pulled of takedowns. That was endlessly cool, and should be kept.
5.Ja-ja-ja-jackhammers and drop-downs: These moves both involved dropping Nate's body weight on top of a shocked enemy, Mario-style. Keep these.
6.Chase sequences:These scenes involved high-velocity action and high-impact fun. They involved the great parkour and climbing that Nathan Drake is extremely skilled at and were thus effortless to breeze through. Keep these in Naughty Dog. Keep them in and do what you can with them.
Goodnight, Everybody!
So, the core gameplay mechanics of Uncharted 3, with its presentation of story through gameplay and amazing set-pieces and combat, should definitely make a return to the next game. But what about the mechanics missing, from the 3rd game, the mechanics that appeared in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Theives. These, i shall address later in…
THINGS THAT SHOULD BE BROUGHT BACK!!!!!
And yes, it needs to be this big because it makes it seem important.
See… TACO!!!
That's the power of subliminal messages, and Polybius in a nutshell.

Uncharted 4 Ideas: What do you want in this game?...
Moving on from my idea on Uncharted 4, the ending depends on what you do in the game. Drake dies and Jessy survives (or vice-versa) if you do a normal amount of ‘humane’ kills, usually instant kills or headshots and refraining from the use of snares and bear traps, both the heroes survive if you barely kill anyone, whilst both of them die if you flat-out pulverise everyone during the game.

However, they are much, much more suited for a The Last of Us game. In other words, this is not Uncharted. It is pointless to end one series like this; ending one story of one character, Drake, when a new, more interesting character with his or her own story to tell can take his place. Sorry if I came off rude, but killing Nate Drake is unnecessary.
Your ideas of alternate endings would definitely make the second The Last Of Us or a The Last of Us prequel much more engaging, though.

Uncharted 4 Ideas: What do you want in this game?...
Hello. I'm back, and I apologize for not posting anything for a while. It is summer after all, and I've been out doing things.
Anyway, I do suppose it's about time to pick up where I left off, don't you. So without further ado…
THINGS THAT SHOULD RETURN FROM UNCHARTED: DRAKE'S FORTUNE AND UNCHARTED 2.
1. Focus on story: It's fairly common knowledge that Uncharted 3's plotline was written as the game was made. The game's creators stated multiple times that set-pieces, the same set-pieces that I stated earlier made up some of my greatest gaming experiences of all time, were created before a legitimate story was written. Ultimately, this choice (in my opinion) turned out to be for the best, with Uncharted 3 being the subject of marvel and one of the most cinematic experiences ever. The story was still there, doing its job well, and in fact accomplishing this said job completely in many areas, namely the relationship between Nate and Sully, the secrets of Nate's past, Nate's obsession with Iram, and how this obsession almost destroys everything he cares for. Inverted, and this theme could also be used quite well for the fourth one.
However, this story, as a result of rushing, mincing, and trying to cram as many set-pieces altogether, suffered from a bounty of holes and flaws. The ship sequence, though fantastic, were useless to the story, many things about Talbot were left unexplained, not enough time was spent in the desert, and Marlowe and her organization were a tad underdeveloped.
Uncharted 1 and 2, on the other hand, had more developed stories, going into depth with the characters and the world around them. They also had little pacing issues, and the environments that they went to were naturally part of the story, everything flowing naturally, especially in Uncharted 2.
Having set-pieces is fine, but never at the expense of story, especially after what had been accomplished previously in the series.
2. Bonuses: Costumes, tweaks, cheats, and weapons select, all could be selected at any times during the previous two Uncharteds' campaigns. They all added humor, fun, and replay value to the games. Thanks to the rushed game development of U3, these bonuses weren't included. This is a shame, as it would have been hilarious to see Doughnut Drake throw down against a dozen mooks in a bar fight, or awe-inspiring to watch things float around in zero-gravity mode as a cruise ship filled with water and flipped sideways. Uncharted 3's set-pieces are enough to keep me coming back to the game, but the inclusion of extras would make it even better. So keep both the incredible set-pieces, and the neat bonuses(and add some new ones) and Uncharted 4, would be even more fun.
3.“Kitty Got Wet!”: Drake would often spew out Bond-esque one-liners during firefights in the first two Uncharteds. These were cool, but were sadly not included in Drake's Deception(are you seeing a running theme here?). New lines could be added, as well as old ones brought back. I notice, however, that in dramatic bits of gameplay(such as playing as a desperate Nate in the desert village in U3) that many of the more “jolly” lines wouldn't fit. So, it should be set that lines of darker, more dramatic tone could be said in their place in order to reflect Drake's struggle.
4. Uncharted 2's animation system: Uncharted 2's animation system was really smooth. Uncharted 3's was apparently made a bit different, with new animations added and improved. However, this animation system suffered from a few noticeable glitches that made Drake look more clunky at times, and took me out of the game. The smoother animation system should return, but Nate's reactions, such as him brushing against a wall, are very free to stay.
Although I said that I would state what should be new to Uncharted 4's gameplay after this, I find that it would be best if I discussed the narrative of Uncharted 4 again. I have found a few things I would very much like to change in my story idea, and I also think it would be best to make it vaguer and better up for interpretation and change, and I should discuss what should change about the basic Uncharted narrative structure.
So, next time I will discuss…
CHANGES TO MY UNCHARTED 4 STORY IDEA!!!
Anyway, I do suppose it's about time to pick up where I left off, don't you. So without further ado…
THINGS THAT SHOULD RETURN FROM UNCHARTED: DRAKE'S FORTUNE AND UNCHARTED 2.

Uncharted 4 Ideas: What do you want in this game?...
Ive been a big fan of Uncharted for a long time and I do believe that Uncharted 4 should come out for the PS4.For Uncharted 4 multiplayer,I think that they should add vehicles to the maps like land rovers because it does make sense to add a vehicle like that to a game of exploring.Their should also be helicopters that require one player to drive and then another player to operate the turrent, but that would mean that man for himself multiplayer modes would only have one person riding the helicopter. And maps should be bigger for the vehicles to fit in.

School's a killer.
I absolutely agree! Vehicles in multiplayer and singleplayer would be a great improvement.

I think there should be recording, a photo-taking and a recording-sending block. Agree?

Uncharted 4 Ideas: What do you want in this game?...
Well, ive played 1, 2 and 3 and decided it would be a lot better in first person view… if not, it would help if the cameras didnt keep swinging about (same with Assasins Creed!)
