Circuit Breaker

“This project was made for Round 1 of the 2013 Scratch Vector Graphix Championships.”

Game Design 7/10
This was pretty good, I enjoyed playing it to the end. I didn't feel like giving up after a loss, which is always good in a game.

Originality 5/10
This was not extremely original, as there are many Code breaking style games out there. The points it got were from the vending machine aspect of it.

Ease Of Use 5/5
This had simple mouse controls, and the instructions were pretty straight forward. Nothing not easy about it, hence a perfect score.

Difficulty Balance 3/5
It had a descent balance at first, and difficulty did increase throughout the game, but the last levels were still too easy. Luck and speed both play a pretty large role in those last levels, if you are quick enough, or happen to hit a close combination, you win no problem. It should be improved, perhaps adding another row of numbers and/or letters after so many levels.

Graphics 4/5
The snacks graphics were amazing! They fooled me at first, until I read the names on them. The menu was also pretty good, but the rest of the graphics were a bit simple. Especially in comparison to the snacks. Hence 1 point is missing.

Sound 4/5
The sounds were pretty good! Very appropriate for the game play. Sound effects were also present, giving you a good score.

Firing Round 5/10 (This is the addition of the following scores)
Reliability 1/2
0 (Very Glitchy) 1 (A few glitches) 2 (Hardly any glitches)
Game Length 1/2
0 (Too Short) 1 (Decent Length) 2 (Long lasting or endless)
Game Pace 1/2
0 (Very slow or too long for it's own sake) 1 (Quite engrossing) 2 (Very well paced and fun)
Replay Value 1/2
0 (Would never replay/ did not want to finish it the first time) 1 (Might replay) 2 (Too good to stop!)
Programming 1/2
0 (Simple to make) 1 (Fairly advanced) 2 (It was very complex)

Overall Experience 25/50
I did have some issues, like the code I entered overlapping the previous code. When this happened, my tries were only decreased by one as well. Also, the snacks move too slowly to the bottom of the machine, as I was robbed of a victory more than once when snacks took forever and a year to make it to me. Overall though, this was a pretty good game. Not, “the best game I've ever played” good, but more like “that was an enjoyable experience” good. I think you have a shot at that contest you entered, good luck!

This is a “brand” now, not just a thread Just like how mario and minecraft projects get so many views on the main site, the hideout now gets recognition on the forums.

Apparently “Aug. 2, 2013 12:01:00”, and I believe that a few factors helped this:
1) The professional homepage that still stands out as the superior than the remixes. Not only is it professional, but it is also original and aesthetically pleasing. The hideout-style index system, the bright, colourful graphics, and the way it is structured with a website-like toolbar at the top really create the right environment for this thread.
2) The time frame. Whilst a lot of threads die out in the first couple of days or weeks, the fact that this was updated for over a month gave users the confidence to return time and time again. So even if it wasn't as popular at the start, this grew over time.
3) With the popularity growing, and views reaching over 13000 views, I think that the views will grow even further with more and more passers by who get curious and want to find out why this thread keeps getting so many views.
4) “The Scratch Cat's Hideout” is also a brand name, meaning that users are starting to recognise it. To prove this, I released a tycoon under the brand logo, and it got over 200 views in 18 hours, and within a week it reached 3000 views without being curated or featured.
5) The thread is constantly changing and experimenting with new things, including new sections, new services, and even new titles! Currently it's “The Scratch Cat's Hideout- an entertainment thread”, however that may change by the time you read this.

I see, and kind of guessed that. I just always have trouble getting any attention to my projects, without curation. I guess it's because i don't have many followers… I don't know, but anyway, thanks for answering.

Jumper

“Collect Gold and keep from falling! Avoid the enemies!”

Game Design 8/10
It is a very fun game, one that makes you want to keep trying till you succeed, which won't happen first try, I can guarantee that. It was a very well designed game, something we've all come to expect from CAA14!

Originality 6/10
I can't say this is the most original thing I've ever seen, but it was still good. The idea was mostly original, and it had good powerups, but I know I've seen something similar to this before. I just can't remember where…

Ease Of Use 3/5
The game was simple enough to use, but the lack of an in game tutorial took this down a bit. Sadly, not everyone thinks to look in the Instructions section for instructions…

Difficulty Balance 2/5
Well, like the description states, this game is hard. The top score is 36, which is absolutely astounding for this game. No real balance or variability, hence the lower score.

Graphics 4/5
Graphics, as per usual, scored high for quality graphics. They of course could have been a bit better, but anything could be better. Perhaps a more detailed background or a walking animation could have made this higher.

Sound 3/5
I did like the music, but it seemed a bit peaceful for how challenging the game is. Still, points for dramatic irony I suppose!

Firing Round 6/10 (This is the addition of the following scores)
Reliability 1/2
0 (Very Glitchy) 1 (A few glitches) 2 (Hardly any glitches)
Game Length 1/2
0 (Too Short) 1 (Decent Length) 2 (Long lasting or endless)
Game Pace 2/2
0 (Very slow or too long for it's own sake) 1 (Quite engrossing) 2 (Very well paced and fun)
Replay Value 1/2
0 (Would never replay/ did not want to finish it the first time) 1 (Might replay) 2 (Too good to stop!)
Programming 1/2
0 (Simple to make) 1 (Fairly advanced) 2 (It was very complex)

Overall Experience 30/50
My experience with this game was a good one, quality made, fun, and well deserving of the recognition it received. I hope your last game will be better still! However, there were some lag issues if I played the game more than once. The reason for this is that none of the clones delete themselves when they're done being used, and keep accumulating. Just make sure the clones are deleted when they're no longer in use!
