Sprite Wars
“Epic war has erupted between the Red Sprites and the Blue Sprites. The fate of the world is at stake. (pretty dry description, I know)”

Game Design 9/10
This is an amazing game! I really like the idea, it's very fun, and it's very refreshing after all the random projects I see that were shared simply because the creator was bored that day.

Originality 7/10
Pretty original I'd say, not completely of course, as there are other similar ideas out there. The only way to make it more original is to make a completely different game though, so good job!

Ease of Use 3/5
This game had a great tutorial, but if you used cheats before going into the tutorial, the Scratch's face kind of just stayed on the screen. Also, blue's scores were hard to read because of the grade letter speaking, it covered up some variables.

Difficulty Balance 4/5
This game had three difficulty options, all reasonably spaced, though I wish they had been spaced a bit farther apart. I didn't have all that much trouble winning on difficulty three, but that's because it involved tactics, and the controls were just the mouse, my favorite combo.

Graphics 4/5
Superb graphics! Although, with the premise of the game, it's a lot easier to make really fitting graphics I suppose. That's where it lost a point. If you had included a few new animations with the Scratch sprites, then it probably would have aced this category!

Sound 4/5
Great song, great sound effects, great score! I would have liked another song to listen to as well, that's why it didn't get 5.

Firing Round 7/10 (This is the addition of the following scores)
Reliability 1/2
0 (Very Glitchy) 1 (A few glitches) 2 (Hardly any glitches)
Game Length 2/2
0 (Too Short) 1 (Decent Length) 2 (Long lasting or endless)
Game Pace 1/2
0 (Very slow or too long for it's own sake) 1 (Quite engrossing) 2 (Very well paced and fun)
Replay Value 2/2
0 (Would never replay/ did not want to finish it the first time) 1 (Might replay) 2 (Too good to stop!)
Programming 1/2
0 (Simple to make) 1 (Fairly advanced) 2 (It was very complex)

Overall Experience 45/50
I had such a good time playing this game, I forgot I was supposed to review and just played it for an hour. Then I saw the Hideout's tab up, and remembered I had to review it. I'm gong back to it in a sec. The only issue I have besides those already mentioned, is that the tutorial cat says to build a Nano instead of a Giga when you build the swordsman.

TOTAL: 83/100

Key
0-19 I could have made that in my sleep!
20-39 Needs a lot of work.
40-59 An average project I suppose.
60-79 Quite a cool project.
80-94 Wow! It only needs a bit of tweaking.
95-100 You're the top cat!

About the graphics though, you're saying that because they're easier to produce graphics for that the game looks less good? Remember this isn't a talent competition where you balance out how easy something was, we're just basing it on the core value of the game. Still, I've given you the points anyway.

You need to tell me when you do so as there is no way for me to check who added what. Even with the activity section of the studios there's still a risk I might double-add points or miss some off. Sorry! You can still claim points for project's you've added!
Ok. Thanks !

Well, the premise of the game, the Scratch sprites fighting each other, Prodigy just used the Scratch sprites. This is all well and good, but there weren't really any animations added to them, and since little effort was put forth towards those particular sprites, it lost a point. However, it still got 4/5, hardly worth complaining about.

Oh now I get you! Well if the animations are limited, include that! In fact pretty much all you've just said would have been fine in the review. the creator needs to know this, not me!

EMERGENCY STAFF MEETING:
Is the Scratch Cat's Hideout out of date?

With the new “Scratching Fame” getting more members than this in just a couple of days being active, I'm worried that this thread may have lost its touch. We're both trying to spread the word of unseen projects, and I fully support the other thread, however is there a way we can make our thread more attractive?

It hit me when I saw two members of this post comments with the Scratching Fame signature on each of them, that I realised how big that thread was. What would happen if everyone joined theres, and gave up on this one?

I hope that Scratching Fame has a bright future, but we also need to ensure that this thread has a bright future as well. We got 10,000 views in 3 months, and plenty of projects to advertise, and we cannot give up. Maybe the indexing system of projects has aged, and we might need a new angle to advertise things from.

Any ideas? Remember, we are NOT at war with the other thread, I just want to ensure that no one forgets about the Scratch Cat's Hideout that we've all been working hard on for 3 months to build up!

I have a few ideas for the future of the Scratch Cat's Hideout's future:

1. Make a website
A good website builder I know of is Wix (wix.com).
You can link all all of the projects from it, and link to the forum.
We can use it sort of like a central hub.
I can design one, if you like?

2. Use a project as a member database
Using cloud lists, you can have a list of all the members
and they can sign up through the project.
You can also have all the points, and make it only editable
by you (by using a
 <username>
block) so no one cheats.

Long live the Scratch Cat's Hideout!

Let's look and see what the other thread is doing well, and what this thread is doing well, and then find some sort of middle-ground.

Le Edit: It would appear that they advertise Scratchers, through various means. In other Scratcher's featured projects, on their profile, ect. In short, they are in a completely different business. They advertise lesser known Scratchers, we advertise projects. They advertise through their members, we advertise through galleries.

Options: We could change our advert style, having members advertise projects at various levels of exposure, in or on their projects, their profile, their signature, ect.
Or, we could just add that as an option.
Or, we could offer to advertise Scratchers too, but I think we should likely leave Scratching fame alone in that department, and work on improving ourselves.
We could also offer our reviews a bit more, going out to Show and Tell threads and offering to review the projects listed there.
We could also make a new thread with the express purpose of reviews, The Scratch Cat's Hideout Review Center or something like that. There we could have a review on hand for every project on Show and Tell, and turn into the place where people go if they want to know if they want to play a game.
I really like the above option by the way.

That's what we're looking at at the moment.

Some interesting ideas there from both of you, thank-you! I see the point that we advertise projects, not users, and that we should stick to that. Another thing we can be proud of is the website-structure we have, (@Loopys) so a website will not be necessary as this thread already looks like one.

Maybe we need to expand on how useful the “worth mentioning” section is, by focusing on scratchers rather than things. For example, we could use it for birthday mentions and public messages like in a newspaper!

In terms of a review centre, that's basically what we have now except maybe we don't emphasise on it enough. Perhaps if we had a way to review every featured project as they come out then maybe we would have more of a chance. The problem is that this would require a LOT of work, so it won't be sustainable. We need a more sustainable solution. Still, I believe it would give our marketing something to hold onto. or, we should highlight reviews more in the title of the thread.

Using a project for a members database seems a bit pointless to me, plus with this being predominantly a thread, I'd rather keep it all together as much as possible.

The Scratch Cat's Hideout Tycoon was designed to get this views (as well as a test for my upcoming simulator) however I'm not sure how many people visited the thread after playing the game! If I make more projects based on this thread I'll have to emphasise more that they are based on this thread.

Thanks for your time, I'll wait for your feedback.

O.K. I think we should still do the ones in red, as well as some of your proposed ideas. The review center, I could be the manager of that. Organizing all the links and such to reviews and games, doing a couple reviews myself, shouldn't be too hard for me, I'm active enough to update often. All we need are the reviews themselves, and this can get done.

I like the idea of improving the review centre aspect
of The Scratch Cat's Hideout, as it's basically what
it is.

I think we should just focus on improving the thread,
not competing against Scratching Fame, because
as sonicfan12p said,

so we don't really need to compete against them.

I have one more idea.

The Scratching Fame project has a signature pic.
Maybe we could do that too, except we could maybe
have a featured project in the pic, that changes every
week (but keep it published at the same URL, so we
don't have to change our signatures.) I could make it,
if you like.

A separate review centre would make things confusing for other Scratchers, as the whole idea of this thread is to have everything on show and tell organised into one place. Instead, “We could also offer our reviews a bit more, going out to Show and Tell threads and offering to review the projects listed there.” So our job would be to go hunting around the website, and not only asking in any show and tell forum we can find “Would you like a review of this?” But we'll also ask in project comments! However, we must all promise NEVER TO SPAM. It should be one request per user at most, and it must be done politely, and we must remember that if they say no it means no.

For the signature, I've got the new one down here encase anyone wants to try it out! +25 points for members with this signature!

Reminder: We are not competing against the thread, we're just trying to find an angle that allows us both to share traffic. I don't want them to appear too similar.

Sorry if I missed off any points! Also, what's your feedback on this:

I see what you're saying, but this thread is already crowded with many things. The reviews, members, galleries, everything has its own separate post. A very long post. Some people prefer to just have the info they need on the first post. I do like that you linked to the other posts from everywhere, that is good, but some people like to have things separated. One last thing…This thread's name. It is very informative, but also cluttered. I know what you're thinking, with the purpose of this thread and all, why would we separate it, but it may be for the better. Maybe. It could go badly, I don't know, but if it does, we can always just let the other thread go away, and focus on this one again.

About your idea, I do like it. Scratchers are more worth mentioning than projects sometimes, so that would be a good change.
