CPU KILLING PROJECT
Weirdest thing I've ever seen.
Whenever I try to green flag this project, my CPU usage goes up to 100% and my browser locks up. If I end the flashplayerplugin process, everything is back to normal, but of course I still can't see the project in action. I got in touch with the project's creator (thanks for all the help
btw), but both of us were stumped. I ‘saw inside’ the project and there were no big, complicated scripts. I even tried changing the graphics from vector to bitmap. I also tried remixing the project and removing scripts until I found the problem. The background was fine on it's own, but as soon as I added in a sprite, CPU usage rockets up. We have no idea what is causing this. Any help?
By the way, if any of you were wondering if I had a ten year old PC with next to no RAM, I tell you I have, but it's severely updated. Here are my specs:
CPU: Pentium 4 Hyperthreaded
RAM: 2GB
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 210, 512MB RAM
OS: Windows 7
Browser: Latest Firefox
It is perfectly capable of playing many other games, such as the one in my signature, which has many complicated scripts and a lot of cloning.

I couldn't help but notice that the project uses brightness and color effects. I have a feeling that the lagggy-ness is caused by those effects (there's a bit more info about this here).

I will have a look in my remix and see if removing those scripts makes a difference. Thanks!

The bit I don't get; why does this only effect me? Other people say that it works fine for them.

Processing doesn't matter. You could have the fastest computer and still get lag with brightness effects. The problem seems to be the latest update on the Flash player, so downgrading it to 11.7 something should do the trick and eliminate the lag.The bit I don't get; why does this only effect me? I couldn't play that project either. It lagged severely and then stopped and then Firefox started lagging. Then I closed the tab and it stopped and everything was fine again. I have Flash Player version 11.2.202.297

@mix91132:
The reason it uses so much CPU power is because the looks are getting changed continuously within a ‘forever’ loop (even when nothing is actually changing), and that is very intensive - particularly with the current issues with the Flash player that many are experiencing when effects are used (colour/ghost/brightness/etc.)
As an example of what I mean, see the following posts about how to script such changes to the look of a costume more efficiently (and look inside the problematic project to compare):
http://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/post/102592/
http://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/post/101816/
Fixing up the scripting in the way I've outlined would make a significant difference to the lag problem (even without installing different Flash version) - I've posted a note on the project about it, referring to above posts, so maybe the creator will make the changes…

here's the problem, in my previous comment (NO IM NOT TRYING TO SPAM!)
. @jojoN If you are using “forever, change color effect by 25” or using my cloning script on my project: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/11978505/ then it will lag so try to slow down on graphic effects, try to make something simple
You welcome,
JojoN
